It’s the last couple of weeks to see “The Ugly History of Beautiful Things”! This exhibition explores the lived experience of contemporary New Mexican artists in dialogue with historic objects from the museums collection to explore how the often ~ugly~ history of New Mexico has inspired those living here today. Be sure to check out this exhibition before NMHA shifts to celebrating our Centennial.

Additionally, time is running out to see “Grow and Flourish ‘24”, the latest iteration of our exhibit featuring recent acquisitions to the collections. “Grow and Flourish ‘24” will be on view through February 2025, but the museum will be closed during the month of January so make sure to get your visits in soon!

This past weekend we hosted our first collaboration with , a non-profit that teaches children and families how to create healthy foods through hands-on experience. CWK utilized our newly restored 1930s kitchen to create their own tamales. Swipe to see the life cycle of a tamale through the hands of the students.

The students also got a special behind-the-scenes tour of the collections. We’re excited for our next CWK collaboration soon!

From the archive: In our collections records we found this postcard (dated 1910!) and a 1966 note from the curator at the time, E. Boyd, saying she had used it to date the Traje de luce that is currently in our collection. As luck would have it, the entire suit is on view now, come by and check it out. The detail work is sure to impress you!
