Today marks the anniversary of the second assault on the University of Warsaw, carried out by the "Krybar" Combat Group during the Warsaw Uprising.

To mark the occasion, we present profiles of "Krybar" Combat Group insurgents, created by historical reenactors from the "Patria" Historical Project based on period photographs.

We extend our sincere thanks to the members of the Projekt Historyczny Patria for carrying out this initiative, which allows us to honor the heroes of the Uprising.

Today marks the 179th anniversary of Bolesław Prus's birth!

We all know him as one of Poland's most outstanding Positivist writers and a pioneer of Polish realism; yet, before becoming Bolesław Prus, he was Aleksander Głowacki.

After completing secondary school in 1866, Aleksander Głowacki began his studies at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the Main School in Warsaw. Although his time there lasted only two years, he remains one of the University of Warsaw's most celebrated alumni. To commemorate his time at the university, a plaque was installed on the Polish Studies building in 1982, and in 1928, Józef Aumiller created a relief plaque bearing the writer's likeness. This unique piece can be viewed at our museum as part of the exhibition "University of Warsaw: Passion, Science, and Identity."
