Wills and estate giving can take many forms beyond including a charitable gift in a will.

Some options may include:
• Naming a charity as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy
• Gifts through RRSPs or RRIFs
• Donating securities
• Giving through a donor-advised fund or family foundation

Many of these approaches may also provide additional tax advantages while helping support cultural initiatives and future generations.

Your legacy can continue through the values, community, and culture you choose to invest in.

We are proud to support The Grass Grows, Antonych Grows / Росте Антонич, і росте трава, the latest album from Luka Kuplowsky, funded in part by the Shevchenko Foundation through the Boris Horodynsky Music Fund.

Inspired by the poetry of Ukrainian modernist poet Bohdan Ihor Antonych, the album brings together music, spoken Ukrainian poetry, visual art, and movement in a deeply layered celebration of language, memory, nature, and cultural imagination.

Join Luka Kuplowsky on May 28 for a release celebration!

Some stories are not passed down all at once.

They live quietly between generations — in fragments, in silences, in objects sitting on dressers for decades — waiting for someone ready to open them.

In this final featured clip from the 2026 KOBZAR Book Award Gala, winning author Sasha Colby reflects on the deeply personal journey behind The Matryoshka Memoirs, a story shaped by memory, migration, survival, and the layered experiences passed from grandmother to granddaughter.

Through the metaphor of the matryoshka doll, Sasha speaks to the ways family histories slowly reveal themselves over time — and how the stories women carry continue to echo across generations.

“I think about my grandmother and this is her story… how excited she would be that her story meant something to other people.”

Thank you to the authors who help preserve lived history not only through facts, but through memory, emotion, and human connection.

Many Canadians are unaware that charitable gifts through an estate may help reduce or offset final taxes, potentially preserving more of an estate for both family and charitable giving.

Wills and estate giving can be structured thoughtfully, allowing you to care for your loved ones while also supporting the future of Ukrainian culture, education, and community in Canada.

Every family and estate is different, which is why speaking with a professional advisor can help determine the best approach for your goals and values.
