Visit the first Post Office in Western Canada, and the home of the influential Scottish-Métis Ross family. Closed for the season.

Ross House Museum will reopen Spring 2027. The first post office West of the Great Lakes and home of the Ross family, important Mètis citizens of the Red River Settlement. Open from June to September, Wednesday-Sunday, 10am-4pm.

Today, on National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Day, we reflect on and recognize the harms of the past, the role that museums have played in perpetuating them, and the work that lays ahead to build respectful relationships in the spirit of reconciliation.🧡

As we maintain the home and legacy of two Red River Métis/Settler families, it weighs heavy on us today to remember and honour the survivors of residential schools, the children who never made it home, and the communities and families which are still impacted to this day.

Seven Oaks House Museum and Ross House Museum are committed to ensuring that our policies and practices reflect the “Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action and the United Nations’ Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.”

Today, on National Indigenous Peoples Day, we recognize and celebrate the traditions, cultures, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis.
