Mudmaid Museum

Mudmaid Museum Mudmaid authority Pattie Chalmers has studied river life since 1987.

Her field guide, “Aquatic Anomalies of the Red River,” was well received by potamologists of the upper mid-west. In 1998 she began researching the upper Mississippi and in 2002 started extensive inquiry into Mississippi Mudmaids, controversial historical fish-women. Chalmers’s current study is centered in southern Illinois, where she has begun collecting information on the Murphysboro Mudman.
