We had a fantastic turnout at our embroidery workshop. Participants explored traditional Polish stitches, materials, and techniques, and began their own Kashubian-style designs to continue at home. At our next session, we will share progress and exchange tips and advice. Thank you Christine Tabbernor and Elzbieta Tukaj for teaching!

The Polish flag is flying on the mast in front of Winnipeg City Hall. The ceremony was initiated by the Polish Museum and Archives (Ogniwo).
Deputy Mayor of Winnipeg, Markus Chambers, conveyed greetings on behalf of the municipal authorities, while Christine Tabbernor, Secretary and former President, welcomed the numerous members of the Polish community in attendance. We extend our sincere thanks to St. Vital Councillor Brian Mayes for his assistance in organizing this event. It was a great way to begin the celebrations of Polish Heritage Month in Canada.

We are celebrating Polish Heritage Month by organizing an Embroidery Workshop that will be run at the museum in 2 (Tuesday evening) sessions on May 12th & May 26th.
This will be a chance for beginners with no previous experience, as well as those who may have done this before, but need a refresher. The workshop will be geared to adults (or teens), but not young children. The first session will cover the basics and allow everyone to get started on a piece of embroidery, while the second session will provide helpful hints, trouble-shooting and cleaning/finishing/framing information.
Cost is $30 per person and includes the basic supplies needed to complete the project.

Those who complete a small embroidery piece will have a chance to include it in our mini-exhibit on Embroidery that will be open the month of May.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our Christmas Open House this past Saturday-- the last one we will host as "Ogniwo" before we officially become the Polish Canadian Museum & Archives!
It wasn't as cold outside as last year, but with the carols on, the Christmas trees lit up and decorated with traditional ornaments, crafts, artists' market, hot coffee and baked goodies, the vibes inside were extra warm and cozy.
Most of all, our volunteers loved connecting with you, our community! Together we are building something unique and special: a place to protect and honour the stories of the Polish community across Canada.

Special thank you to City of Winnipeg Councillor Bryan Mayes, our neighbours Pollock's Hardware and Modern Coffee, our volunteers, and to every one of our visitors for their support.
