"Letture d'Africa. Interpretazioni d'autore dal continente", il progetto Calendario 2023 di Medici con l'Africa Cuamm, ci regala una gradita sorpresa: Andrea Mongia, illustratore delle 12 tavole dedicate ad altrettanti capolavori della letteratura africana, ha ottenuto la medaglia d'oro alla 65edizione della mostra annuale della Society Of Illustrators, nella categoria Institutional. Il prossimo gennaio Mongia volerà a New York per ricevere il premio. Una gioia anche per il Cuamm che, con il calendario, contribuisce a promuovere, ogni anno, un'idea positiva dell'Africa, diffondendo forme diverse della sua cultura e bellezza. La letteratura africana, in particolare oggi, vive un meritato periodo di riconoscimento e attenzione. Anche questo è un modo per illuminare "Quello che non si vede": niente è meglio di un calendario che illustra, mese per mese, un libro e aiuta ad entrare nel vivo della contemporaneità, capirne e gustarne il senso e i valori.

Selection News! Carles Garcia O'Dowd's “Space Resource Extraction Series” has been selected for the Society Of Illustrators book and exhibition in New York! Entered into the "uncommissioned" category, Carles described the work as "...inspired by the eternal greed cycles that are pushing us to see the Universe as an endless resource to exploit, even if it means our self destruction"

Really happy to share the news that three of my illos have just been accepted into Society Of Illustrators Illustrators 65th annual book and exhibition!!!
The first piece is the poster for "Powrot do Legolandu, the second one is the book cover for Doreen Cunningham's "Soundings" and the third one is my cover portrait of Benedict Cumberbatch created for Entertainment Weeklyawardist magazine (the great thing here is that the portrait has already appeared in American Illustration annual, received honorable mention at 3x3 Magazine and was accepted into The Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles Illustration West 60).
Huge thanks to art directors Anne Latini and Bekki Guyatt, Konrad Aksinowicz who directed Powrot Do Legolandu and of course this year’s jury of :)

“Created in partnership with Detour and the Missouri School of Journalism, this animated documentary short tells the story of Pierce City, Missouri, and the racial violence that drove many Black families from the area during the early 1900s."

Yupiii! My series "Human and War" has been juried by Society Of Illustrators in New York into Illustrators 65, annual competition, exhibition and book! Works was selected out of over 4000 entries by over 1700 illustrators globally. Illustrations will be exhibited in Museum of Illustration in NYC and reproduced in Illustration Annual Book. It's so nice to be chosen again (in 2019 SOI awarded me with silver medal in Book category) and can't wait to see my works in this beautiful museum! And what's the best: now I have a real reason to visit NYC again.❤️

I'm very very HAPPY today! After the Gold Medal in 2020 for "A Menina com os Olhos Ocupados", the second book of the series "Senhor Mar" won the same award at the Society Of Illustrators 65! Now that's a surprise! Many many thanks to the jury and to the people at SOI. And congrats to all the winners!
