The territory of Talish rugs lies in the south-eastern Caucasus, near the Caspian Sea, on the border with Persia. The main characteristics of Talish rugs are their elongated format and a relatively narrow central field, often almost as wide as the border itself.
They are also known for their soft, high-quality wool and velvety lustre. This piece measures 272 × 102 cm.
A yellow Talish such as this one is particularly rare. The main red border enhances the warm tone of the central field. A two-coloured diamond lattice encloses the ancient boteh symbol. The main border is classic in style, set against a brick-red ground and decorated with large eight-lobed rosettes.
The secondary borders are adorned respectively with star-like elements and small flowers on a green ground. Finally, the outer closure is crafted with the medachyl, the reciprocal arrowhead motif, rendered in black and blue.

Until only a few years ago, kilims were considered secondary rugs and were sometimes even used to wrap other carpets for shipping. More recently, however, it has been recognised that these textiles, typical of nomadic populations and long excluded from the major international rug markets, have preserved their original character with remarkable authenticity.
Kilims often feature essential designs, yet their harmony and colour combinations are far from accidental. Rather, they express a taste deeply connected to the territory in which they were created.
The kilim presented here comes from the region of Konia, in Turkey. Its primitive design and intense blue hue, inspired by the skies of Anatolia, make it a unique object, perfectly suited to a modern interior.

Bessarabian Kilims are handwoven flatweave rugs typical of the region between Moldova and Ukraine. They are distinguished by their bright colours and floral subjects, often enriched with figures of people or animals.
This particular example depicts a meeting between lovers, in some way inspired by the story of Romeo and Juliet. Thanks to their flatwoven structure, these kilims can also be used as wall hangings to decorate large walls.

This splendid Chinese rug from the Art Deco period is immediately recognisable for its elegance and distinctive style. Its wool is lustrous and silky, spun with a greater thickness than that of traditional Chinese wool.
This type of rug emerged around the 1920s thanks to Walter Nichols, an American merchant who moved to China and, in 1924, established a rug manufactory intended for the American market. While preserving certain classical Chinese decorative elements, these rugs were defined by a decidedly innovative style.
Cascades of flowers in intense shades unfold across a plain burgundy ground: a decoration that is rich yet, at the same time, remarkably minimal. This rug integrates beautifully into modern interiors, bringing both colour and warmth.

This handwoven wool rug was crafted in India. Its design is by Rodolfo Dordoni, the Milan-born architect and designer who, over the years, has served as artistic director for some of the most prominent names in contemporary design.
The RD Halong rug presents a refined combination of graphic elements and tactile surfaces, translated into a carefully balanced composition of solids and voids. The interplay between the ground and the raised pile areas is interwoven with contrasting linear details.
The overall chromatic effect, expressed through the soft tones of natural wool, is enhanced by luminous embroidery in shades inspired by Eastern spices.

A sequence of triangles gradually transforms into diamonds, which in turn evolve into rectangles: elongated forms enriched by bold chromatic accents. Diamantina, a decoration inspired by the ceramic tiles often featured in architectural works, originates from a design by Gio Ponti.

The term Mishan Malayer refers to a distinctive type of rug woven in the village of Mishan, located south of Malayer in Iran. Produced between the late nineteenth century and the 1920s, pieces such as the one presented here are among the most refined expressions of Persian rug-making.
Hand-knotted with a symmetrical knot, these rugs are distinguished by their soft wool and compact pile, qualities that ensure both durability and elegance. The use of natural colours — including cochineal red, beige and blue — creates a harmonious and sophisticated visual effect.
Its decoration reflects a multifaceted style, combining elements drawn from the diverse artistic traditions of Central and Far Eastern cultures.

This sumptuous Turkish rug of Ushak quality is hand-knotted in wool, with both warp and weft also in wool, as in ancient examples. This splendid piece is decorated with the so-called “Lotto” motif, named after the famous painter Lorenzo Lotto, one of the leading figures of the Venetian Renaissance in the early 16th century, who depicted rugs with Anatolian-inspired decorations in his paintings. This motif is certainly the most well-known.
