The Neverending Cure

We invite you to the opening of the exhibition „The Neverending Cure“ by kennedy+swan on May 28, 2025, from 6 to 9 pm at UNI_VERSUM, the TU Exhibition Space located in the main building of the Technische Universität Berlin .
🧬 How much do we trust AI with our health?
In The Neverending Cure, artist duo kennedy+swan explore the role of artificial intelligence in medicine—especially its use in diagnosing diseases. They engage artistically with an AI model trained to detect lung cancer in tissue scans. 🫁 Their watercolours on glass—painted in the aesthetic of microscopic specimens—serve as both artworks and data sources. In doing so, kennedy+swan not only reflect on the technological capabilities of such systems but also raise questions about the social, ethical, and philosophical implications they entail. Like other AI systems, medical AI systems are built on data sets that mirror social power relations and structural inequalities. The duo asks: Should machines be trained with “species-foreign” content to be able to reliably distinguish between healthy and diseased? How far are we from a diagnostic AI that we can trust wholeheartedly?
Program of the evening:
Welcome words by Prof. Dr. Klaus-Robert Müller, BIFOLD Co-Director and Input from Prof. Dr. Frederick Klauschen, Director Pathology, Ludwig-Maximilian-Universität München, Research Group Lead BIFOLD/Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, followed by a discussion with BIFOLD researchers Dennis Grindwald, Naima Elosegui Borras, Tom Neuhäuser and kennedy+swan [+swan], moderated by Nataša Vukajlović [].
The exhibitions runs from May 29 and finishes with the Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften [] on June, 28. (More information on our website, link in bio)
