On view until August 30, 2026 „The Heart of My Machine is Golden Lead“ by Mire Lee

Mire Lee’s solo exhibition unfolds across the Secession in Vienna and the Korean Cultural Center Austria, extending her practice into a distributed system where body, machine, and environment blur.

At the Secession, a slowly rotating cement mixer and a network of PVC pipes circulate a viscous mixture of iron oxide, brass powder, and sawdust through the space, gradually marking floors and surfaces. Industrial processes, residue, and ornament collapse into
a shared field of material instability.

At the Korean Cultural Center Austria, under the title Women I loved / 내가 사랑한 여자들, her film works extend this logic of convulsive, breathlike movement into the cinematic. Across both sites, her work remains in constant transformation. Fragments of the Secession
installation will later reappear as a site-responsive work at Oude Kerk in Amsterdam.

Last week to see: “The Self Assessed” curated by Cornelius Tittel at Galerie Max Hetzler, featuring works by Lorenzo Amos, Grant Falardeau, and Oliver Bak - whose works are also currently on view at Boros Collection.

Bringing together self-portraits from the 20th and 21st centuries, the exhibition explores identity as something unstable, performative, and continuously shifting. Across painting, sculpture, and photography, the show traces how the self-portrait moves beyond likeness toward gesture, presence, and the tension between self-perception and the gaze of others.

Sung Tieu and Henrike Naumann - German Pavilion, Venice Biennale, 2026

This year, the pavilion’s exterior has been transformed into a Plattenbau housing block by Sung Tieu, who is also part in the new presentation at the Boros Collection.

„Human Dignity Shall Be Inviolable“ covers the façade of the German Pavilion with more than three million mosaic tiles. The work presents a 1:1-scale image of the ruin of a socialist prefab apartment building on Gehrenseestraße in East Berlin. The building was once home to Sung Tieu and part of one of the GDR’s largest residential complexes for foreign contract workers. It is currently being demolished. Additional works by both artists are shown in the pavilion’s side wings.
