Feuerle Puig House

Feuerle Puig House Private museum in Berlin, juxtaposing contemporary artists with Imperial Chinese furniture and ancie

The Feuerle Collection juxtaposes international contemporary artists with Imperial Chinese furniture and ancient Southeast Asian art. Located in a former Second World War telecommunications bunker that has been renovated by the British architect John Pawson, the museum encourages a conversation between different periods and cultures, offering an alternative perception of ancient art and creates a

new perspective on the pieces, adopting a synesthetic approach. On display are stone, bronze and wood Khmer sculptures from the 7th - 13th century, Imperial Chinese lacquer and stone furniture; wood and stone Chinese Scholar furniture from the Han Dynasty to Qing Dynasty, from 200 BC to the 18th century. They are juxtaposed with works by contemporary artists, including Cristina Iglesias, Anish Kapoor, Zeng Fanzhi, James Lee Byars, Nobuyoshi Araki and Adam Fuss.

The fifth edition of the St. Moritz Art Film Festival took place from 20–23 August 2026, presenting 50 films from 25 countries—including seven world premieres, four European premieres and eleven Swiss premieres.

This year’s jury brought together Ewa Hess, Skarlet Smatana and our Co-Founder, Désiré Feuerle. The Best Art Film Prize was jointly awarded to "Desire Lines" by Tommy Malekoff and "Silvesterchlausen" by Andrew Norman Wilson. The jury’s special prize, the Love at First Sight Kulm Prize, went to "Spoken Movement Family Honour" by Daniel Gurton, while "Recife tem um coração" by Rodrigo Sena received a Special Mention from the jury.

Congratulations to all the artists, and our thanks to the jury for the attention, curiosity and inspiring conversation they brought to the programme.

Feuerle Puig House is rooted, above all, in the senses. Its vision unfolds through a synaesthetic approach — a total work of art that brings together sight, sound, scent, and taste.

Removed from the rush of everyday life and the noise of the internet age, the Collection invites you into a slower rhythm. Through the Meditation Hour, Tea Ceremony, Gong Bath, Incense Ceremony, and the contemplative journey through its spaces, each encounter unfolds gradually — asking for time, patience, and presence in a world that rarely pauses.

The Lake Room is a permanent, site-specific artwork conceived by Désiré Feuerle as part of Feuerle Puig House, envisioned as a total work of art. The unexpected lake on the lower floor contributes to the experience of reflection and stillness that defines a visit to the collection. Experience the atmosphere of the Lake Room during our Open Meditation Hour every Thursday from 6 PM or during our Regular Visit every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Using Désiré Feuerle’s exquisite light curation as a form of descriptive language, we invite visitors to engage with art in a deeply personal and synesthetic way, allowing each art piece to resonate uniquely within them. The experience encourages a meditative exploration of the Collection, where the focus shifts from academic context to an intimate connection with one’s own emotions and perceptions. To preserve this immersive atmosphere, the use of mobile phones is not permitted, offering a rare opportunity to disconnect from the distractions of the modern world and fully concentrate on the present moment—a quiet rebellion against the fast-paced habits of our age.

The art of incense in China is incredibly complex and relatively unknown in Europe,” Désiré Feuerle notes. “I wanted to share a contemporary and authentic version of this beautiful, ancient and refined ceremony.”
Some agarwood takes centuries to form, and the ritual of incense itself unfolds slowly, rewarding patience and presence.

Dedicated to bringing this unique tradition to the West, “The Incense Room” at Feuerle Puig House complements the museum’s synaesthetic concept. The ceremony uses very precious incense in a ritual that explores the relationship between scent, the senses, the human spirit, and nature — revealing the high level of sophistication to which Chinese culture arrived.

In keeping with his synaesthetic approach, the Incense Ceremony forms part of the vision to create a unique “Gesamtkunstwerk” of juxtapositions.
