TICKETS (2nd cover)
JI UK KIM

Photographer’s note.

2025 marks exactly ten years since I arrived in Berlin. To commemorate this milestone, I have created my first photo book, compiling works from the past five years.

Tickets from the last five years. A collection of personal moments when, leaving my base in Berlin, I encountered unexpected experiences that struck me with strong visual interest. More than simple snapshots, these are moments when I pressed the shutter compelled by a sense of necessity at the time.

To make this book, I took countless flights, and selecting the title and curating the images involved extensive reflection and care. Still, I hope you’ll enjoy this book with a slightly loose, relaxed gaze.

About the title.

“Tickets take you somewhere, without that somewhere necessarily being a holiday. Where you go and why remains open. It isn’t too cute, nor is it too programmatic.

The word also has a pleasing rhythm — something percussive in its T-, K-, and S-sounds.

The name could refer both to the tickets that took you somewhere to photograph, and to the photos as tickets themselves, a window to a place to be looked at. The directionality inherent in both photography (you’re allowed to see this, but not what surrounds it) and tickets (they grant access to one specific thing or event) makes the

word resonate as a title for a photo book.”

Unlike the photos I’m commissioned to take, these are the ones I commissioned myself to make — and this investment in my own ‘vision,’ if you will, feels essential to me, a part of my photography worth preserving within the pages of a book.

The memory
Gizenth Baretto

That way in which you look at the past or how it is usually looked at with melancholy like something other where we are not part of any longer and so there is nothing more than feeling the abscense within us of that which we are no longer to struggle into belonging in a memory through feelings sometimes false and unfinished we are the memory of the death.

This Saturday at Motto: RESONANCES OF THE VOICES BEFORE US — Electric Modernism & Material Sound in Post-Independence Ghana. Curated and hosted by a Ghanaian born curator and designer.

Positioned at the intersection of post-independence cultural sovereignty, analog experimentation, and ancestral memory, this broadcast traces the electric transformation of West African popular sound across the 1970s. As acoustic palm-wine roots and big-band brass gave way to organ-led, psychedelic studio experimentation, musicians across Accra and Kumasi developed a distinct form of electric modernism.
Approaching rare vinyl pressings, independent label archives (Essiebons, Gapophone, Bokoor), and physical ephemera as living historical artifacts, the three-hour session combines continuous playback with live curatorial commentary.

Listen in person from the Motto courtyard in Kreuzberg or tune in online via the live stream.

NOIRE magazine #3
Sofiia Korshunova (Ed.)

NOIRE was created in Kyiv in 2023. At a moment of complete uncertainty, we realized that we were missing a platform that would speak to people like us: tell stories, show new releases and build community in the future.
After establishing ourselves online, which still remains equivalent to the magazine you are holding in your hands right now, we realized that simply being a retransmitter was not enough, and we wanted to tell more through the magazine. Where there is no influence of algorithms and the constant pressure to stay relevant.
It was important to us that people choose us consciously, because they wanted to, and not by chance. Aspirational journalism became the main concept of all issues.

Support the Kickstarter for my first artist’s book, ARCHIVE A3 (1995–2026). Hit the link in bio to back the campaign!

‘This project originates from my own family archive, which was rescued from my flat in the occupied Donbas and eventually carried across borders to Paris.
In this book, I systematically juxtapose ordinary family photographs with political events occurring on the exact same day. It reveals how the bureaucracy of war progressively invades the space of personal memory and familial intimacy. To complete the geographic and emotional cycle of these documents, the entire edition will be physically printed and bound in Kyiv to directly support the Ukrainian publishing industry.’

The campaign is a tight 21-day sprint. Early pledges in the first 24 hours are crucial to getting the project seen globally!

Head to the link in my bio to pre-order your copy. Standard books, hand-signed editions, and limited wearable art pieces are available now. (Free local pickup available for Paris & Berlin!)
