The Manitoba Electrical Museum and Education Centre is committed to sharing the history of electrical development in Manitoba by providing a greater understanding of how energy is produced and delivered while promoting safe and efficient energy choices. Discover the beginnings of hydroelectric power in Manitoba and learn how generating stations are built in Manitoba. Don't forget to take a look at
our display of electric appliances dated as early as 1908! See our new exhibit "Sustainable Development: Caring for Our Common Future" located downstairs. The exhibit illustrates how hydropower as a renewable energy source contributes to the goals of sustainable development for the safety of our planet and its natural resources. The exhibit highlights Indigenous voices and introduces concepts of sustainability, renewable resources, sustainable development, as well as the consequences of unsustainable development.
