Chapter 11 — An Evening That Will Launch a Legacy

For the past ten chapters, we’ve invited you on a remarkable journey.

We’ve shared the story of the Wright Brothers, their discoveries, their flying machines, their perseverance, and the extraordinary collection now finding its home at the Genesis of Flight Experience in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

We’ve taken you behind the scenes as the exhibits have come to life.

But through every chapter, there has been one purpose greater than the aircraft, the buildings, or even the history itself.

The young people whose futures we hope to inspire.

On November 14, 2026, we will gather for the first Genesis of Flight Gala.

It will be a wonderful evening of fellowship, dining, entertainment, and celebration, surrounded by one of the most remarkable collections of early aviation history ever assembled.

But this evening is about something much greater.

It’s about giving a young person an opportunity they might never otherwise have.

Imagine a child walking through the Wright Brothers’ bicycle shop, discovering the mathematics behind flight, studying an engine or propeller, experimenting with the principles of aviation, and beginning to realize that the same God-given creativity that helped two brothers change the world exists within them as well.

Through our STEM educational program, students will do more than tour a museum. They will explore, question, learn, create, and complete an educational journey recognized with their own certificate.

And through our Sponsor a Student mission, we want to provide that experience to young people from second through twelfth grade at no cost to them.

A $100 sponsorship helps make that possible for one student.

That’s why the Genesis of Flight Gala is different.

And larger sponsorships will help open these doors to hundreds more.

Chapter 10 — The Next Generation

For nine weeks, we’ve shown you what we’re building.

Today, we want to show you who we’re building it for.

The young person who has never been inside an airplane.

The student who doesn’t yet know that they love engineering.

The child who thinks mathematics is simply something they have to learn in school—until they discover that mathematics helped mankind learn to fly.

The teenager who has never considered becoming a pilot, mechanic, scientist, craftsman, engineer or entrepreneur because no one has ever put that possibility in front of them.

Those are the young people we’re building Genesis of Flight for.

When students enter the Genesis of Flight Experience, we don’t want them simply to walk through a museum and look at airplanes.

We want them to go on a journey.

They’ll experience the Wright Brothers’ bicycle shop, their experiments and gliders, the breakthrough of controlled powered flight, their evolving flying machines, flight school and aircraft manufacturing.

They’ll encounter engines, propellers, fabric, tools, mathematics, engineering and craftsmanship.

And through their own educational materials and STEM activities, they’ll be challenged to observe, question, calculate, experiment, build and discover.

At the end of that journey, they’ll receive a certificate recognizing what they’ve accomplished.

But perhaps they’ll leave with something much more important.

A possibility.

Maybe one child will look at an engine and discover mechanical ability they didn’t know they had.

Maybe another will look at a wing and become fascinated by engineering.

Maybe another will make a paper airplane, begin experimenting with why one design flies farther than another, and discover that science can actually be fun.

And perhaps another simply needs to learn the story of two brothers who failed repeatedly, kept learning and refused to quit.

We believe God has given every young person gifts and creativity.

Sometimes those gifts simply need an opportunity to be discovered.

That’s our mission.

We especially want to reach students who might otherwise never have an opportunity like this. Through our Sponsor a Student program, our goal is to provide the complete Genesis of Flight educational experience at no cost to them.

A $100 sponsorship helps provide that opportunity for one student.

An educational journey created to help a young person discover what might be possible.

Chapter 9 — Behind the Scenes: Building the Experience

This week, the invitation went out.

On November 14, for one special evening, the doors to the Genesis of Flight Experience will open for our Gala guests before the Experience opens to the public.

But behind those doors right now…

We’re still building.

Aircraft are being positioned.

Murals are going up.

The Wright Cycle Company is taking shape.

The dunes of Kitty Hawk are coming to life.

Work continues on the Wright aircraft production facility, engines, propellers, exhibits and the many details that will help tell this remarkable story.

And every day, it looks a little different.

That’s why we wanted to take you behind the scenes this week.

When finished, visitors won’t simply walk into a room filled with airplanes.

They will walk into a story.

They’ll journey from mankind looking toward God’s creation and dreaming of flight…

through the Wright Brothers’ experiments and discoveries…

into their bicycle shop…

onto the dunes of Kitty Hawk…

through their flying machines…

and eventually into the workshop and production facilities where an invention began becoming an industry.

But while we’re building walls, exhibits and experiences, we’ve never forgotten what we’re really building this for.

The students.

Imagine a second grader walking through these doors for the first time.

Imagine a middle-school student standing beneath a Wright flying machine and beginning to understand why mathematics matters.
