Surrealism is an art style in which fantastical visual imagery from the subconscious mind is used with no intention of making the work logically comprehensible. The Surrealists included Salvador Dali, Max Ernst, Giorgio de Chirico, Jean Arp, Man Ray, Joan Miro and Rene Magritte. We will begin by discussing the history of Surrealism and its roots. Next, we will discuss art and lives of as many Surrealists as time permits

The Fredericksburg Center for the Creative Arts (FCCA) is honored to present a special May 2026 Members’ Gallery solo exhibition of watercolors by North Dakota and Hawaii artist Bro Halff. His watercolors have been exhibited in over 230 nation-wide exhibitions. He represents rural, urban and small-town America, with radiant colors and bold composition, depicting the patterning that he sees in all of reality. He offers a fresh look at scenes that delight our senses, and that stimulate our capacity for wonder before the world around us. Mr. Halff resides on Kaua’i, in Hawaii, and in Bismarck, North Dakota. His award-winning watercolors have been exhibited in FCCA juried exhibitions since 2004. He is represented by the Bro Halff Gallery at Simpler Gifts Press of San Diego, CA. https://www.simplergifts.com/
