Artist Statement:
More than an artist I consider myself a medium or a tool to give existence to visions that want to be seen by us. They could be from my own or our common subconscious or even from another dimension. Therefore, Abstract Expression is a selfless and thoughtless process for me. My most successful works are the ones that I have created most spontaneously. Follow me on Twitter

This is the month I have been waiting to tell you about. My painting Prey goes on view at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art in the Made in VA Biennial, my first work to be shown in a museum, and the museum chose it as the image for the whole exhibition.

The month starts in Washington, DC, where three pieces from my Spirits series are in the Auction on the Alley at IA&A at Hillyer. I will be at the gallery on September 4, and again for DC Art All Night on September 12. Closer to home, Fallings opens at The Art League in Alexandria on September 11.

I hope to see you at one of them.

I am honored to join 36 featured artists in International Arts & Artists’ annual fundraiser. Three pieces from my Spirits series were selected, and Silent Domain was chosen for the official event poster, above. See next slide for the dates I will be there in person.

I will be IA&A at Hillyer for the First Friday Art Walk Dupont and DC Art All Night DC Art All Night on the 12th starting at 7 pm

Visit my studio on Labor Day and check out my new works and the specials for the day Torpedo Factory Art Center

Join me for the celebration event of Made in Virginia Biennial 2026 Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art September 10, 6-8 pm

I’m delighted to announce that Fallings has been selected for The Art League’s miniMAX Exhibit (MAX category) this September! As one of the gallery’s most anticipated annual shows, miniMAX highlights the dramatic contrast between extreme scale and intricate detail, bringing together exceptional works from local miniature artists and large-scale creators. Opening reception The Art League Friday 11, 6:30-8

Finally, if you are heading to the amazing Annmarie Sculpture Garden Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center, check out my painting Canyon I, which is sold but still on display through the exhibition.

Introducing ‘Lethophobia’ 🌅
In this new addition to my Baroque series, I incorporated my 3D art for the first time.
Emerging raw from its metamorphosis, a freshly hatched figure coils inward, desperately fighting the urge to solidify into oblivion. It is a moment of existential terror—the immediate, instinctive dread of becoming another ruined relic before ever truly living.
I leave other interpretations of a narrative to the viewer.

Introducing ‘Moonstruck’ 🌔
This is a study for a larger commission requesting iridescent hues. I typically avoid gloss and reflective finishes for two reasons:
- It is hard to take photos for submissions
- Lack of control of the lighting in the galleries
But since I am using watercolor on pigment prints, I discovered Daniel Smith watercolors (Daniel Smith Artists Materials) that can be diluted to create much subtler effects, adding a pleasant spark at certain angles. I particularly like Fuchsite Genuine, a neutral green pearlescent watercolor. I am planning to recreate this in a much larger size for the commission. Meanwhile, visit my studio Torpedo Factory Art Center to witness my process.

The Janus Aspect 🏛️✨
From raw clay to a finished study in duality.
Inspired by the mythic guardian of thresholds, transitions, and dual perspectives, The Janus Aspect explores the space between opposing forces—presence and absence, revelation and concealment, strength and vulnerability.
One side presents a gilded, mask-like serenity; the other reveals a raw, grounded presence. A physical meditation on the masks we wear and the fluid boundaries of identity.
Which side speaks to you more? Let me know in the comments below! 👇

✨At Eventide✨
A quiet moment where light and spirit meet at dusk. Part of my ongoing Spirits series exploring ethereal forms and vivid, dreamlike landscapes.
🖌️ Details: Watercolor, pigment print, and pastel on water media wood panel.
