Laura E. Pritchett: “Making art has been my life-long passion”
North Carolina-based painter, Laura E. Pritchett, discusses her transition from oil to acrylics! Acrylics have completely changed the way she creates her artwork while traveling. In this video, Laura beautifully exhibits how she has expanded her possibilities with the help of acrylics and polymer glazing liquid. I think this teaches us that art is an evolving process, there’s always an opportunity to pivot your style, techniques, etc.
Enjoy Laura's brief 1-minute discussion below and for a more in-depth understanding of her transition into acrylics, check out today's blog post here: https://principlearttalk.com/2022/02/18/laura-e-pritchett-making-art-has-been-my-life-long-passion/

It may surprise you to know that even top tier artists like Gavin Glakas sometimes rework their paintings. Perfectly great looking works to you and I could have bits that make artists wish they had done something differently. After seeing your piece with fresh eyes after months or years after completion, you'll inevitably find ways to improve some of your existing work. This piece was great in its original form, but Gavin added some extra life and atmosphere with these tweaks.
In this short video featuring a work now available at Principle Gallery, Glakas gives us some insight into his reworking process, what he thought he could better, and how he went about it.
