Curatorial Tour | Friday, July 24, 6 PM

Join curator Agnieszka Roguski for a guided tour through DISSOLUTIONS—Mooni Perry. Together, you'll explore the exhibition's historical and contemporary layers and discuss its intertwining of film, sound and research.

Centered around Perry's film EL (2025), the exhibition adresses memory and oblivion, bringing together moving image, archival materials and research installations to reflect on displacement, fragmented histories and feminist perspectives on East Asian cosmologies.

If you can't make it this time, there will be another opportunity to join the curatorial tour on September 25, 6 PM.

Session 2: 23.7.2026, 5 PM

How do we speak about a world that exceeds our understanding?

Join the second session of Haunted Potentials, an open reading group exploring how language and technology persist beyond the systems they help shape. As part of our annual program DISSOLUTIONS, the series asks what remains when social, political and epistemic orders begin to dissolve.

Following our first session on technology and cosmotechnics, we now turn to language: not simply as a tool for describing the world, but as a medium through which uncertainty, crisis and alternative futures can be imagined and negotiated.

Together, we'll read and discuss an excerpt from Eugene Thacker's "In the Dust of This Planet" (2011), in which horror becomes a way of thinking about what resists representation and how fiction can approach the limits of language.

Bring your curiosity, your questions, and—if you like—your own artistic practice, writing, research, references, or experiences. Whether you work with literature, performance, sound, moving image, philosophy, design, AI, archives, speculative fiction, ecology, or entirely different approaches, we'd love to think together. The text will be shared in advance, and we'll read passages together during the session.

The reading and discussion will be in English.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the premiere of Besaid, bedone by Luzie Meyer last Thursday.

As if on cue, the rain began just as the performance started. The dramatic atmosphere outside seemed to resonate with the work’s emotional landscape, becoming an unexpected backdrop to the evening.

Developed as part of Luzie Meyer’s current engagement with the Baroque music of Barbara Strozzi, Besaid, bedonereflects on the echoes of Strozzi’s cantata Che si può fare („What can be done?“) in relation to contemporary artistic production and our present moment. Through spoken word, song, and sound, the performance moved between historical resonance and personal testimony, opening a space to reflect on hopelessness, uncertainty, and the gradual erosion of cultural and ecological structures.

Thank you, Luzie, for sharing this powerful new work with us for the first time, and thank you to everyone who came, listened, and experienced the evening together.

Stay tuned for the next events!

Join us on 2 July, 7 PM for the performative reading Besaid, bedone by Luzie Meyer. The reading with sound elements is inspired by the cantata “Che si può fare” (“What can be done?”) by the Italian Baroque composer Barbara Strozzi.

A lament of grief, melancholy and hopelessness, Strozzi's composition relentlessly circles around loss through musical repetition. Luzie Meyer enters into the cantata's emotional landscape through spoken word and song, translating its sense of disbelief and diminished agency into the present; a moment in which cultural spaces close down, (infra-)structures erode, possibilities dissolve, and ecological systems near collapse. Moving between personal testimony and the historical echo of Barbara Strozzi, the performance mourns and bears witness to these losses. Fragmented texts, partial songs and deliberate breaks will deconstruct the performance itself.

Luzie Meyer works as an interdisciplinary artist, writer, and translator. Grounded in a genre-crossing writing practice, Meyer produces videos, sound-pieces, photographic installations, and performative readings using conceptual and improvisational approaches to suffusing logics with visual, sonic and semantic breaks. Recent exhibitions include Betrayals of the Possible (2025) at Fanta MLN, Milan, Repeatedly failing to align with light (2025) at Camera Austria, Graz; and Passing the Fugitive On, 13th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art.

Sign Up for Our Open Reading Group: Haunted Potentials

What traces persist when systems begin to dissolve? What futures remain embedded in the technologies we use and the languages we inherit? Haunted Potentials invites you to join an open reading group exploring technology and language as carriers of memory, power, imagination and unrealized possibilities. Together, we will read, discuss and think through how these media continue to shape the present long after the orders that produced them have become unstable.

Bring your curiosity, your questions, and, if you wish, your own research—whether rooted in artistic practice, writing, design, archiving, coding, activism, or other forms of inquiry—as well as references, experiences and theoretical interests that engage with the afterlives of technology, language and social systems.

For the first session, we will read an excerpt from Yuk Hui's Art and Cosmotechnics (2021). Texts will be shared in advance.

The reading and discussion will take place in English.

The AFSAR Comfort Women Study Club (2026) is an evolving research installation by that not only brings together books, films, texts and archival materials to explore obscured histories but also functions as a space for members of , co-founded by Perry, to meet regularly and research collectively. Twice weekly, members come together to read, watch films, listen and discuss.

The space will evolve as new materials are added, making research visible as a tentative, collaborative process that responds to the fragmentary nature of histories that have been obscured or distorted, particularly those of "comfort women".

Furthermore, the space will also host a variety of different events in the comings weeks, such as reading groups, a screening with films by and as well as a talk.

We're very excited to share some impressions from our recently opened exhibition DISSOLUTIONS—Mooni Perry .

At its center is the video installation "EL" (2025), presented in Europe for the first time. Influenced by feminist and speculative readings of East Asian cosmologies, the exhibition takes the form of a hotel suspended between memory and oblivion. Light, sound installations extend the film’s atmosphere into the exhibition space.

Filmed in the historic Yamato Hotel in Shenyang, EL follows the encounter between the Korean poet Sansaee and the Chinese opera singer Fei. Moving through dreams, memories, and historical traces, the film explores longing, displacement, and states of in-betweenness.The sound and research installation "Listening Room" expands on the film through musical archives and performative practices from East Asia in the 1930s and 1940s. Finally, "AFSAR Comfort Women Study Club" is an evolving research space that brings together books, films, texts and archival materials to explore obscured histories through collective reading and discussion.
