Don’t take our word for it….

This is what one of our young visitors thinks about us! There are displays for the young & the young at heart… as well as fun activity sheets for kids at the front counter. You’ll be surprised at how much there is see & enjoy sky-diving into some pretty amazing stories.

Betcha didn’t know that…unless you read the last posting!
That...Alice Springs’ first aerodrome,‘Townsite’, was located on what is now Araluen Cultural Precinct site until the last flight in 1968. And...that streets in Araluen are named after aircraft.

Check out the how-it-was pic & then Eugene Blom’s terrific map showing the landing strips overlayed on the surrounding are today.

Betcha didn’t know that…

A number of the streets in Araluen are names after aircraft that once flew out of Alice Springs’ first aerodrome - ‘Townsite’, located on the now Araluen Cultural precinct site until the last flight in 1968. Beechcraft Ct. Avro Ct. Piper Ct. Auster Ct. There are others at the airport too.

Eugene Blom’s produced this terrific map showing how it was. And check out the traffic sign that was on Memorial Avenue.

Looking for something to do undercover. No. Not like a spy. I mean indoors. Like…really big indoors. Like in hangars.

Get up close & personal with real planes, aviation characters & you can even buckle up for take-off on our flight simulator & take to the skies. You never know, it might lead to a career change!

UFO lands at Museum…!

Wow…that’d be something. However, what you can see is the bumping-in of staging for Desert Hothouse’s contemporary dance performances over the next 3 days. Araluen Art Centre is the hub of the ‘performance fest’ - the Aviation Museum is sharing its site & facilities with this creative group of talented individuals. As they say in the performance industry…’break a leg’.
