National Road Transport Hall of Fame

National Road Transport Hall of Fame Based in Australia's Red Centre, Alice Springs. Book Now The National Road Transport Museum is one of Alice Springs' top tourist destinations.

Take a trip through transport history and visit The Old Ghan Train Museum, Kenworth Dealer Hall of Fame, Shell Rimula Hall of Fame, Buntine Pavilion, Trucks in Action Pavilion & RSL War Museum. The National Road Transport Museum is an initiative of the Alice Springs-based Road Transport Historical Society Inc., a community-oriented volunteer organisation dedicated to the preservation of Australia'

s unique road transport heritage. You won't find rows of pristine, off-the-production-line trucks here. Our policy is to show vehicles as they were in their working lives, including the crude modifications and adaptations that "bush mechanics and engineers" had to undertake to ensure they could perform in Australia's harsh working environment. Our vehicles are testimony to the trials and tribulations of our road transports industry's pioneers - essentially Australia's unsung heroes. Our charter is to cover all forms of transport, from the camel strings of old through to today's modern road trains and stretch liner coaches. It is our aim to be truly representative of Australia's road transport industry - covering all sectors of industry and all areas of Australia.

SAVE THE DATE - RAZORBACK BLOCKADE REUNION

In 1979, six courageous truck drivers blocked the highway near the famous Razorback Ridge. After years of complaint about their working conditions, the actions of these drivers and others around Australia forced governments to agree on radical changes to taxation and truck operation.

We look forward to honouring and celebrating these men during our Festival of Transport in August.
