As the last remaining great country estate in the Bronx Pelham Bay Park, Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum explores the social history of the people who lived and worked on the estate during the 19th century. As the last remaining "great country estate" in the Bronx Pelham Bay Park, Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum's mission is to create a vibrant site through the preservation, restoration and interpretation of the property and grounds for the benefit of the public throughout the New York City metro region and beyond. Our mission is achieved by:

1)protecting, preserving and restoring the site's architecture, landscape and collection;
2)interpreting the site's history in compelling and innovative ways;
3)creating dynamic education programs for schools, adults and families.

🌧️ The Beauty of Imperfection: Look closely at the back of this sculpture. One wing is entirely missing, leaving behind a dark metallic scar where it once joined the shoulder. In art history, there is a profound appreciation for fragment aesthetics—much like the Venus de Milo or the Winged Victory of Samothrace, a broken sculpture reminds us that true beauty isn't found in flawless perfection, but in the stories told by weathering the elements.
Standing on its stone plinth above the reflection of the water, it acts as a perfect memento mori—a beautiful reminder of history, art, and the fleeting nature of time.📸 Where is your favorite historic garden hidden gem? Let me know below! 👇

"Art doesn't just imitate life; it captivates it." 🎨🐱 Zelia is currently having a profound existential crisis staring into this spiral staircase artwork. Is she contemplating architecture, geometry, or just wondering if there is a mouse at the top of those stairs?
