MoMA The Museum of Modern Art’s In the Making program gave teens this summer hands-on studio and gallery-based experiences led by contemporary artists. We asked a few MoMA Teens to reflect on their experiences and were blown away by their answers. The program had a big impact on teen Juan Shambi, “MoMA was a life-changing experience that shifted my perspective of the world through art.” Teen, Kathine Chen enjoyed the program because “I had fun exploring new materials, discovered new ways to put them together, and learned to appreciate both my art and myself as an artist.” Finally, teen Mira Ramnarce took away what it means to be an artist, “Being an artist is so much more than just being able to paint a photorealistic eye, or sketch a perfect portrait. Art is about the act of creating, and most importantly, art is defined by the person making it.” Check out the final projects of these talented teens! Photo credit
From large-scale soft sculpture to music production, costume creation, printmaking, theme-based courses, performance, collaborative installations, digital media, and more, MoMA Teens explored different approaches to creativity as part of MoMA The Museum of Modern Art’s In the Making program. The immersive experience culminated with an exhibition of their final artworks at MoMA PS1. Photo credit: kstubbz
