Vachagan Narazyan’s world is richly imagined, built from memory, myth, and refusal.
Born of the Soviet Non-Conformist movement, his paintings are part theatre, part confession—filled with travelers, symbols, and the quiet strangeness of things half-known.

Justin Wood, a painter from Doylestown, Pennsylvania, earned his BFA in Illustration from Syracuse University in 2005. Shortly after, he moved to New York to study under Jacob Collins at the Water Street Atelier, where he trained full time for five years and worked as Collins’ studio assistant.

Following his apprenticeship, Wood began teaching cast drawing and painting at Grand Central Atelier. His still life paintings reflect a deep engagement with classical technique, drawing inspiration from 17th-century Dutch masters like Pieter Claesz and Jan Davidsz de Heem.

Working directly from life, he arranges simple objects, such as fruit, bowls, and folded cloth, into quiet compositions that reward concentrated observation.

As Women’s History Month concludes, we reflect on the significance of our women artist’s contributions to the past, present and future of the art world, not only within Meyer Gallery, but across the wider field of contemporary art. Their inclusion is not just symbolic; it is vital.

Realism artist, Sherry Johnson, explains, “In 2025, being a woman in the arts means standing at the intersection of tradition and innovation, where our voices are an essential part of the narrative. Female representation in the arts is not just a matter of creativity; it’s about expression, individuality, and empowering future generations to express themselves in their uniqueness. The importance of female representation lies in the ability to inspire diverse perspectives, and foster a culture of expressive creativity.”

We honor these women, whose work challenges, inspires, and makes space for those to come. Explore the available works of these talented women at www.meyergalleries.com
