While he rose to prominence in advertising and as a commercial artist there, he was so taken by the high desert of Northern New Mexico in the 1960s that he walked toward it and didn’t turn back. "Several times a year I take photo trips into New Mexico. I love to travel the back roads and explore. I like to take off driving into an unknown place and enjoy the surprise of what I find. As I have spent the last 30 years seeking out beautiful scenes to paint, I’ve developed a high sense of appreciation for the things that are out there. And when I see it, I have to brake, slow down and pull over to the side of the road. I enjoy getting out of the car and taking photos of the things that caught my eye. Sometimes it’s just a chamisa bush, or an adobe building with character. Many times it is a distant mountain or bluff that lines itself up on the horizon with an interesting foreground as I’m traveling. The best of these things make it into my works." -Brad Price

I love to travel the back roads and explore. I like to take off driving into an unknown place and enjoy the surprise of what I find. As I have spent the last 30 years seeking out beautiful scenes to paint, I’ve developed a high sense of appreciation for the things that are out there. And when I see it, I have to brake, slow down and pull over to the side of the road. I enjoy getting out of the car and taking photos of the things that caught my eye. Sometimes it’s just a chamisa bush, or an adobe building with character. Many times it is a distant mountain or bluff that lines itself up on the horizon with an interesting foreground as I’m traveling.
