Jay Davenport’s strong foundation in representationalism has led him to paint the funny and humorous side of animals and how they differ, as well as relate, to human life. His view of the animal world allows us all to observe and even laugh at ourselves occasionally.

Marilou Kundmuellers "Grapevine Series Part 1-5" monotype 12" x 14"
available now at Mayer Galery.

Marilou's works are primarily oil on canvas or board and monotype.
Her motivation to paint is light and gesture in a variety of subject matter from everyday life that captures her interest: the elegant gesture of birds in flight, and impossible delicacies of plant life or the inspiring light and gesture of accidental still-lifes and fabrics (posed like models or observed) creates endless opportunities to play with color.

“My goal as a painter is to have each painting be momentum for the next as a continuum for growth, to mature my facility with paint. I think the vocabulary of paint is everything.”

Renowned as one of the American Southwest’s master painters, and one of the original revered Taos Six, Robert Daughters actually began his career in Kansas City, MO. While he rose to prominence in advertising and as a commercial artist there, he was so taken by the high desert of Northern New Mexico in the 1960s that he walked toward it and didn’t turn back. With his move to Santa Fe and later Taos, Daughters embarked upon his long and prolific life as an award-winning expressionistic painter.

Experience the captivating brush strokes of Robert Daughters' figurative masterpieces throughout the entire month of March at Meyer Gallery.

Kent Wallis' classic oil paintings are still a collectors favorite.
The Utah based painter is one of our longest tenured artists.

"Every artist has strengths and weaknesses. Some are great draftsmen, others are great composers. I'm a colorist. I can hardly wade through the other things because I want to get the thick, juicy color working."

"Braking for Beauty" solo exhibition
opens TODAY! May 26th with the artist reception from 5-7 pm

"Several times a year I take photo trips into New Mexico. I love to travel the back roads and explore. I like to take off driving into an unknown place and enjoy the surprise of what I find. As I have spent the last 30 years seeking out beautiful scenes to paint, I’ve developed a high sense of appreciation for the things that are out there. And when I see it, I have to brake, slow down and pull over to the side of the road. I enjoy getting out of the car and taking photos of the things that caught my eye. Sometimes it’s just a chamisa bush, or an adobe building with character. Many times it is a distant mountain or bluff that lines itself up on the horizon with an interesting foreground as I’m traveling. The best of these things make it into my works." -Brad Price

A quote from Quang Ho on Kevin's work:
"Kevin Weckbach is one of the most versatile and dynamic painters in Denver. His understanding and use of color is akin to a musician with perfect pitch - he has a beautiful sense of harmony. That, coupled with his complete mastery of the visual vocabulary, allows him to explore painting on many different levels. He is a painter's painter."
