We are honored to be showing John Petrey at our Gallery here in Santa Fe! Please come by to see his latest works here on Canyon road!
John Petrey has officially moved his studio and home-base to Santa Fe, NM. Along with his partner and fellow artist, Peggy, he undertook the arduous task of building two art studios and home on a ridge overlooking the Galisteo Basin Preserve, known for its awe-inspiring view of the Ortiz Mountains and Cerro Pelon, the location of many historical movieās sets. They will be settling in over the next few months and begin unleashing their creative flow once again.
While awaiting the building of his new studio in Santa Fe, NM, Petrey has been busy installing six large works into four permanent collections.
Megumi & Ethel are now part of the permanent collection at The Morris Museum of Art in Augusta, GA. Previously, Megumi has been on exhibit in three Museum exhibitions: The Racine Museum of Art in Racine Wisconsin; Marietta Cobb Museum of Art in Marietta, Georgia; and Maitland Museum of Art in Maitland, Florida. Ethel has made appearances in multiple gallery exhibitions across the country.
Genevieve & Sara now reside together in Mount Dora, Florida. Genevieve, at the Mount Dora Center for the Arts. Genevieve, in the permanent collection, previously exhibited alongside Megumi in Racine, Marietta and Maitland. And Sara, an outdoor dress sculpture, will be on permanent display on the grounds of the Arts Centers new facility.
Princess Merida, a notable piece commissioned by Disney/Pixar for the premier of the movie BRAVEĀ© at the grand opening of the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, CA. Princess Merida remained on exhibition at a Disney Gallery in California, and is now appropriately residing back in Central Florida in The Polk Museum of Artās permanent collection.
April, a 60ā tall outdoor sculpture, has been permanently installed in the Outdoor Sculpture Garden at The Lauren Rogers Museum of Art in Laurel, MS this fall.
John is deeply grateful for the help of Daniel Stetson (former Executive Director of The Polk Museum of Art, The Hunter Museum of American Art and The LSU Museum of Art) in facilitating these acquisitions.
