House of Ireland

House of Ireland Welcome to the House of Ireland, a member of the HPR International Cottages in Balboa Park!

The House of Ireland was founded during the California Pacific International Exposition of 1935-36, held in Balboa Park. In all, fifteen original cottages were constructed and twenty countries (including Ireland) were represented. Today, the House of Pacific Relations International Cottages encompass thirty-three national groups. Since its inception, the House has served to promote good citizenshi

p, to bring people together in friendship, and to disseminate both Irish and Irish-American history and culture. We strive to foster strong ties to the greater San Diego Irish community through relationships with the Irish Congress of Southern California, the San Diego Youth Gaelic Football Association, San Diego's many schools of Irish dance, and much, much more!

Jim has a huge repertoire of songs from the Scottish tradition and is a noted interpreter of Burns. These old songs are complemented by his own original and award-winning songs. You can learn more about Jim and his music at https://www.jimmalcolm.com/

Tickets are $20, with $5 off for members of the House of Pacific Relations - International Cottages. All payments will be in cash at the door. PLEASE RESERVE YOUR SEATS BY EMAILING [email protected].

Doors open at 7:00 for the 7:30 concert. It is open seating, so get there early for the best seats. Light refreshments will be available.

And a word about... parking. Yes, no one wanted it, but it's here -- paid parking in Balboa Park. The good news is that you can get 3 hours free in the Lower Inspiration Point lot. Parking will also be available in the neighboring Organ Pavilion and Palisades lots for a charge of $5 for 4 hours for city residents and $10 for nonresidents. If you live in San Diego, you must pre-register for the discounted rate. You can also get monthly, quarterly, and annual passes if you are a frequent park visitor.
