Big crowds sample the flavors of many of the countries represented by the International Cottages in Balboa Park as the 40th Ethnic Food Fare returns after pandemic hiatus
Welcome to the House of Ireland, a member of the HPR International Cottages in Balboa Park!
(19)
The House of Ireland was founded during the California Pacific International Exposition of 1935-36, held in Balboa Park. In all, fifteen original cottages were constructed and twenty countries (including Ireland) were represented. Today, the House of Pacific Relations International Cottages encompass thirty-three national groups. Since its inception, the House has served to promote good citizenshi
p, to bring people together in friendship, and to disseminate both Irish and Irish-American history and culture. We strive to foster strong ties to the greater San Diego Irish community through relationships with the Irish Congress of Southern California, the San Diego Youth Gaelic Football Association, San Diego's many schools of Irish dance, and much, much more!
