The William Robertson Coe Library and American Studies Building was dedicated at the University of Wyoming in 1958. Here, University President George D. Humphrey admires a bust of W. R. Coe, crafted from Colorado marble by Wyoming professor of art Robert Russin.

W. R. Coe’s connection to Wyoming extended far beyond this building, with his philanthropy leaving a lasting mark on the University of Wyoming and the state.

🌱✨ A small seed ball with a big purpose.

Join us for Harvest Celebration: Seeds of the Future on Saturday, September 12, as families explore the stories, traditions, and seasonal rhythms woven into Planting Fields’ Community Garden.

Together with Shane Weeks and Tecumseh Ceaser of the Metoac Indigenous Collective, participants will discover Indigenous gardening practices, learn about the importance of native plants and seed preservation, and create their own native wildflower seed balls to take home.

A hands-on morning of learning, connection, and planting the seeds for a more sustainable future. 🌼

Looking for hands-on experience this fall? 🌱

Get out of the classroom and into the landscape with Planting Fields Foundation’s Fall Service Corps, an eight-week service-learning experience for young adults ages 18–26.

Work alongside a supervised crew on real projects across Planting Fields, gaining practical experience in conservation, horticulture, environmental stewardship, historic garden care, habitat restoration, and public engagement.

You’ll have opportunities to:

🌿 Care for historic gardens and landscapes
🌱 Restore habitats and manage invasive species
🥾 Improve trails and visitor access
🐦 Support nature, education, and family programs
📚 Work with archives and collections
🎓 Build leadership, teamwork, and professional skills
🤝 Learn alongside mentors and a team of fellow young adults

Fall 2026 cohort:
📅 September 14–November 6
🕘 Monday–Friday, 9am–4pm
💰 $2,400 expense stipend for the 8-week term
🏡 On-site housing may be available; fees may apply

Whether you’re exploring a career in environmental science, conservation, horticulture, education, parks, or public service, or simply looking for meaningful hands-on learning experience, this is a chance to learn by doing and build skills for what comes next.

Step into the 2026 Dahlia Show & Exhibition and discover hundreds of spectacular dahlias in every shape, size, color, and form, all on display at the Burns Horticultural Center.

Presented by the Mid Island Dahlia Society, this annual exhibition celebrates the incredible beauty and diversity of one of the garden’s most dazzling flowers. And if you find a favorite, you can take some home! Dahlia bouquets and show blooms will be available for purchase. 💐

These works of art are woven throughout the house, offering a glimpse into centuries of craftsmanship, history, and storytelling.

Spend the day exploring 409 acres filled with hands-on nature activities, crafts, storytelling, scavenger hunts, special birding tours and outdoor discovery designed to inspire kids – and their families – to get outside and play.

🐛🧡 The butterfly w**d is doing exactly what it was planted to do.

Monarch butterflies and caterpillars have arrived in our gardens, a beautiful sign that native plants are providing essential habitat for the next generation of butterflies.

Thanks to the dedication of our horticulture team and the support of our community, Planting Fields continues to be a place where gardens thrive, wildlife returns, and nature can flourish.
