Happy New Year from Sagamore Hill!

Did you know? On New Year’s Day in 1907, the Roosevelts held an open house at the White House so the public could meet their President and shake his hand. By the end of the day, TR had shaken 8,513 hands, setting a new Guinness World Record. He held this record for 70 years until it was broken in 1977 by the Mayor of Atlantic City, Joseph Lazarow, shaking over 11,000 hands.
