The Alchemy of Ink: Xie Tian Solo Exhibition

What happens when ink breaks free from the boundaries of paper?

This September, Memor Museum presents a solo exhibition by Xie Tian, Associate Professor at the China Academy of Art. Featuring 17 representative works spanning ink, mixed media, and glass installations, the exhibition explores the contemporary transformation of traditional Chinese ink within three-dimensional space.

By deconstructing Chinese characters, calligraphic forms, and classical brushwork, Xie Tian allows ink to move beyond the flat surface—creating an immersive dialogue between Eastern aesthetics, material experimentation, and contemporary space.

Xie Tian’s works have received international recognition and have been collected by institutions including the Musée Cernuschi in Paris and the Bastille Design Center.

Curator | Sun Xiaojuan

Sun Xiaojuan is a senior curator who has held leadership positions at several art institutions and media organizations. She currently serves as China Lead, Researcher, and Curator in the Contemporary Art Department at Memor Museum in New York.

I Remember the Feeling
Ruipu (Esther) Wang Exhibition
Some details may fade with time, but the feelings they leave behind stay with us.
On July 18–19, Memor Museum is proud to present “I Remember the Feeling”, an exhibition by Ruipu (Esther) Wang, opening in Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
Through delicate and deeply personal works, Esther transforms everyday moments of companionship, encouragement, love, and warmth into visual expressions that invite viewers to reconnect with their own memories. Rather than telling complete stories, each piece creates space for reflection, reminding us that while memories may blur, emotions endure.
This exhibition is presented as part of the Memor Museum Youth Development Series 2026, a long-term initiative dedicated to supporting the next generation of artists through museum exhibitions, curatorial mentorship, public engagement, academic exchange, and international exposure.
Located in a historic landmark building on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, within the Metropolitan Museum Historic District, Memor Museum provides young people with a professional platform to develop their artistic voice and share their work with a global audience.

A Celebration of Young Creativity
On June 27, Memor Museum proudly hosted the exhibition and award ceremony for the 2026 Shining Stars International Art Competition, part of the Memor Youth Development Series.
Shining Stars is an international youth arts and cultural exchange program guided by China’s Zhejiang Media Group and jointly initiated by the Children’s Channel of China Zhejiang Television and the Global Youth Arts & Culture Foundation. Through artistic expression, cultural exchange, and educational experiences, the program connects young people from around the world and encourages the next generation to develop creativity, confidence, and a global perspective.
This year’s competition received nearly 400 submissions from around the world, with nine outstanding young artists selected for exhibition and recognition. Their works transformed our historic galleries into spaces filled with imagination, courage, and possibility.
Memor Museum remains committed to building international platforms that empower emerging artists, foster cross-cultural dialogue, and inspire young creators to share their voices with the world.

Step into the world of the Dazu Rock Carvings, one of the greatest achievements of Chinese stone carving art and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Now on view at Memor Museum, Harmony of the East: World Heritage Dazu Rock Carvings — An Exhibition of Art and Life Narratives presents high-fidelity reproductions, immersive digital experiences, and compelling stories that reveal the artistic brilliance, technical ingenuity, and human spirit embodied in the carvings.

Exhibition highlights include:

• A rare seated Buddha resting casually on a round stool, offering a glimpse into the distinctive realism and humanity of Song Dynasty sculpture.

• The beloved Cat and Mouse relief, a vivid narrative scene that continues to resonate with audiences centuries later.

• An immersive digital presentation of the Thousand-Armed Guanyin, bringing one of Dazu’s most celebrated masterpieces to life.

• Insight into the remarkable engineering behind the carvings, including hidden drainage systems seamlessly integrated into sculptural details.

Through themes of faith, daily life, family values, and harmony, the exhibition invites visitors to discover why the Dazu Rock Carvings remain one of the most extraordinary cultural treasures in the world.

Opening May 4th at MEMOR Museum, visual artist Han Qin presents a practice-based exhibition in collaboration with CAPL. Set within the museum’s historic and domestic architecture, the project invites you into an “unfinished studio” condition—a space where fleeting inspiration leaves lasting traces. Qin’s work explores themes of migration, identity, and growth through a cross-media language of cyanotype, silk painting, and video projection. Here, artistic experience shifts and reconfigures among architectural layers, transposing personal struggle into a collective sense of warmth.
