Learn to draw in a New York museum! ✨🎨

A space for young artists to explore, create, and discover their own artistic voice.

Memor Museum on NYC’s Upper East Side introduces its Drawing & Creative Arts Program for ages 9–18! Part of Memor’s contemporary art education initiative for young artists, the program brings together foundational training, museum visits, and hands-on practice—helping students build their skills through looking, learning, drawing, and reflection.

✨ What makes this program special?

1️⃣ Build a strong foundation
From observation, drawing, and gesture sketching to color, composition, still life, and landscape studies, students develop essential skills while exploring different materials.

2️⃣ Learn from original works at The Met
With Memor Museum as their main studio and learning space, students will also visit The Metropolitan Museum of Art to study original masterpieces up close and bring fresh inspiration into their own work.

3️⃣ Study with Dr. Ziyu Liu
An independent artist with a doctorate in Fine Arts from Moscow’s Stroganov State Academy of Arts and Industry, Dr. Liu brings experience in Chinese and Western painting, international exhibitions, and art education.

4️⃣ Develop an individual artistic voice
Creative exercises and thematic projects encourage students to turn their observations and ideas into original artworks, building confidence in their own forms of expression.

The Alchemy of Ink: Xie Tian Solo Exhibition

What happens when ink breaks free from the boundaries of paper?

This September, Memor Museum presents a solo exhibition by Xie Tian, Associate Professor at the China Academy of Art. Featuring 17 representative works spanning ink, mixed media, and glass installations, the exhibition explores the contemporary transformation of traditional Chinese ink within three-dimensional space.

By deconstructing Chinese characters, calligraphic forms, and classical brushwork, Xie Tian allows ink to move beyond the flat surface—creating an immersive dialogue between Eastern aesthetics, material experimentation, and contemporary space.

Xie Tian’s works have received international recognition and have been collected by institutions including the Musée Cernuschi in Paris and the Bastille Design Center.

Curator | Sun Xiaojuan

Sun Xiaojuan is a senior curator who has held leadership positions at several art institutions and media organizations. She currently serves as China Lead, Researcher, and Curator in the Contemporary Art Department at Memor Museum in New York.

Join us at Memor Museum for a special afternoon featuring visiting experts from the Academy of Dazu Rock Carvings and two academic lectures:

• “Dazu Rock Carvings: Eastern Civilization Carved in Stone”
• “Digital Preservation and Utilization of the World Cultural Heritage Site of Dazu Rock Carvings”

The program will also include a guided exhibition tour, a Chongqing cultural and tourism presentation, networking and discussion, and an evening reception.
