Learning from the past to create a better future. Visit by Appt The Museum of Interesting Things is a traveling interactive demonstration/exhibition of antiques and inventions inspiring innovation and creativity - learning from the past to create a better future. Our demonstrations are hands on. We let people touch some items and truly experience what life was like many years ago. We bring items that show what inventions led to ipods and other items in our everyday lives. There are 8 departments that coincide with the curriculum in our public schools as well as being fun and interesting for kids and adults! The departments are: Science, Math, Literature, Medical, Toys, Music, Household and Photography. We can also work with any age group & budget from grades 1 through 12, college students to senior citizens. Schools, hospitals, universities, galleries, parties, libraries, anywhere

Mission: The Museum of Interesting Things is an exhibition that demonstrates antiques and inventions. We provide lively, interactive programs that include a brief history of each item, as well as interesting and amusing facts. Our demonstrations are hands-on.

Miniature Art Gallery Launches at ODETTA in Harlem - Untapped New York

The Museum got a mention and pic in Untapped cities for a wonderful article by Laurie Shapiro! If you have not heard of Untapped cities check them out, shows you fantastic things to see, do and learn about all over the world. They showed the Museum's Erector set, one of my fav items in the History of Toys presentation!

Tonight we are all at the David Peel party! I will be there with the Museum too. He was John Lennon's guitarist and an East Village icon!

I knew him since I was 9 years old at least!! My older cousin used to play with him.

Later in life, I filmed him many times and he loved the Museum and donated several of his records to it. He passed a while back and I miss him much!

There is a tribute every year that Koshek lovingly puts together that I do something for with the Museum. This year it is online of course. Tonight at 8pm - 11pm. Enjoy! I will be playing a 16mm film and showing some thingies too!

Suffragette City Pirate!

The Museum's newest T-Shirt is from our newest acquisition. This cool pirate like Suffragette postcard from around 1910.

Now you can have it on a T-shirt, a mug, a tote bag and even a mask!! (feels like a Dr Seuss line should be inserted here)

Comes in nearly every cool color too! I kinda like the pink T.
Get em while they're hot!

Women got the vote 1918 and voted for the first time in the 1920 election where President Harding won. Running against him for VP was none other than Roosevelt! The Museum actually has a voting machine from 1920 that still has Harding and Roosevelt on it! You can vote for them today! LOL

Had a lecture today for NYU Posthuman Futurism on Covid19, I talked about a history of treating disease through objects or quack Medicine hehe. There were talks about surveillance and more. I brought interesting things of course and all the lectures were so fantastic and discussions so balanced. Even though I deal more often with the past I have been promoted to creative director now of the posthuman future heehee

Thank you for sharing and caring.
DOC NYC will host a documentary called “Saving Brinton” today and tomorrow. It follows a man named Michael Zahs and his discovery of some of the oldest movies in the world (1895-1908) in an Washington Iowa basement and his adventures to save them. The films originally belonged to Frank Brinton, a showman and entertainer who showed these movies in the Midwest in the late 1890’s to 1910. In the Saving Brinton film, a lost Georges Mêliés movie is discovered in the collection and you follow efforts to have it restored. And after the film is over, Zahs will show you a second lost Mêliés film, discovered in June of this year, and recently restored, that few people have seen in over one hundred years. November 13 and 14th, follow the link to buy tickets. Might be fun. Thank you for your kind attention.
Just saw you on NJN. Do you ever come to Philadelphia? Would love to see one of your shows. Great job on teaching kids real life history!
