The Sylvia Wald and Po Kim Art Gallery, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was founded by Korean-born American artist Po Kim and American artist Sylvia Wald. In addition to preserving, maintaining and perpetuating the legacy of the founders' uniquely accomplished artistic careers, the foundation aims to promote East-West cultural harmony through the arts by sponsoring and hosting temporary art exhibitions and other artistic events, with an emphasis on contemporary Korean and Asian artists.

Born in Korea in 1944 and based in New York since 1970, Woong Kim has developed a distinctive painting practice rooted in intuition, observation, and material process.

Working with oil, pencil, and natural pigments, Kim builds layered surfaces through masking, scraping, and overpainting. His abstract paintings evoke landscapes, memory, erosion, and geological strata, inviting a meditative reflection on time, place, and experience.

View Woong Kim’s artworks at the exhibition, In Diaspora, until September 26th.
