Summer Teen Art Project (TAP) Community Celebration

Celebrate the creativity and leadership of MAM's 2026 Summer Teen Art Project participants as they share their collaborative exhibition, "Do you know your neighbors?" Through photography, poetry, sound, and video, these talented young artists explore community, identity, and belonging. Free and open to all!

Thank you to everyone who came out to Third Thursday this month! We had a wonderful time celebrating Barbara Hand's "Bitterroot" now on display at MAM!

"Bitterroot" was designed to fit under the leaded glass windows of the original Carnegie Library Building currently where the Millin mezzanine sits.

Rizzos’ Italian Ice is slinging Italian ice in the Art Park tonight during Third Thursday at MAM! We are open late from 5-7 PM. Andrea Harsell is playing tunes and galleries are open! Come down and cool off at MAM!

What an incredible day! A huge thank you to the Zootown Arts Community Center (ZACC) for their generosity in allowing our youth to use their bus for a trip to Council Grove State Park. A special thank you also goes to Joe Kirk for volunteering his time to safely drive the group and help make this experience possible.

Last week the Teen Art Project ( ) teens, the TRIO Upward Bound at the University of Montana students, and artist-in-residence Kelly Bouma spent the day at Council Grove, where they captured beautiful footage in nature for their film and learned about the monument commemorating the Hellgate Treaty of 1855. It was a meaningful experience that brought together art, history, nature, and community.

We are so grateful for our partnership with ZACC and for the incredible community support that helps create these opportunities for our youth.

Join us for a special Third Thursday as we celebrate weaver Barbara Hand and the return of her monumental Bitterroot Tapestry, created for MAM in 1987. Designed specifically for the original Carnegie Library building, this stunning three‑panel work hasn’t been on view for decades — and we’re thrilled to welcome it back.

Barbara will share a few words about the tapestry at 5:30 PM, and MAM registrar Margo Geddes will be on hand with Barbara’s original sketches.
