Today and every day, we remain committed to representing contemporary Indigenous artistic expression faithfully and collaboratively. MAM recognizes the on going sovereignty of the Séliš and Ql̓ispé Tribal people. Tribal people inspire MAM’s efforts to create and maintain a beloved, inclusive community.

Come be part of a collaborative art project that brings our community together. Browder invites sewists of all skill levels—from total beginners to experienced pros—to help construct her large-scale "Soft Monuments"!

Celebrate Browder’s "Soft Monuments", a citywide collaborative textile project, at a special Community Night. Learn more about the project, connect with fellow participants, and celebrate the creativity bringing this work to life. MAM is open late. No-host bar. Free Admission.

🎃 Halloween Sewing Day with Amanda Browder
Saturday, October 31 | 11 AM–4 PM
Drop in for a day of community sewing in support of "Soft Monuments". No sewing experience is necessary—come for an hour or stay for the afternoon and help create two monumental textile installations for Missoula.

Amanda Browder is a Missoula-born, Brooklyn-based artist known for community-driven fabric installations that transform public spaces. Her Missoula residency, in partnership with the University of Montana School of Visual and Media Arts, includes workshops, lectures, public sewing days, and a public unveiling.

Both events are free and open to all.

Outrage: Missing and Murdered Indigenous People in Montana is the 2026 winner of the High Plains International Book Award in Art & Photography!

The publication features artwork by Brian Maguire and essays by MAM Executive Director Brandon Reintjes and MAM Board Member Kathryn Shanley. We hope this recognition brings greater visibility to the publication and exhibition while continuing to raise awareness of the ongoing MMIP crisis.

The exhibition is currently on view at This House of Books through December.

MAM is pleased to share that Outrage: Missing and Murdered Indigenous People in Montana is a finalist for the 2026 High Plains International Book Awards.

The book grew from the exhibition of the same title, featuring powerful portraits by Irish artist Brian Maguire created in collaboration with Montana MMIP families. Together, the portraits honor missing and murdered relatives and the families who continue to carry and share their stories.

If you’re in Billings, go see a selection of the portraits in person tomorrow night during October ArtWalk at The House of Books. While you’re there, we encourage you to pick up a copy of the book, learn more about these stories, and support the continued work shining light on the MMIP crisis.
