Last week we gathered with exhibiting artists Sheila Bush, Joey Harris, and Gardner Astalos to celebrate the closing of Transient Signal, our latest Side by Each exhibition.

Gardner also led a printmaking demo, where we explored a new monoprint process together — drawing, experimentation, and joyful surprises included.

The 3rd annual Sketchbook Show at The Crucible Art Collective is right around the corner…

Studio artists Kyra Calhoun, Kelly Evans, and Mathew Sharp will be exhibiting their books alongside many more Buffalo artists.

The opening reception is this coming Sunday, May 24th 1-5pm at the Crucible Art collective on Connecticut St. 🌟 Big big thanks to Nick Mass for bringing this exhibition to life.

What an amazing opening we had for Alex Schmitt’s Amazing Paintings and Drawings, her solo show in the Blue Sink Café 💙

This exhibition showcases her recent series of dragon drawings (many featured with her favorite dessert), paintings on canvas, a chalkboard mural, and even a digital art piece!

Alex is a multi media artist who loves exploring fantasy. The show is on view in the Blue Sink café for a few months, come have a look ⛰️🐉

It is an inspiring day when we visit artists working inside the beautiful origination that is .

Stitch Buffalo is a textile art center committed to empowering refugee and immigrant women through the sale of their handcrafted goods.

Since January 2025, one of Starlight’s Without Walls programs meets at Stitch, with the goal of supporting Starlight artists interested in developing their fiber and textile art. On this day we got to check out projects by Don, Jocelyn, Paul, and Juan.

Keep an eye out for updates about our annual Summer Show 👀 Artists from every program, including Stitch and AKG, will showcase their creations!

What delights you? When do you feel gratitude?

Nina Vega Westhoff visited last week through and led a writing workshop inspired by Just Buffalo’s “In Gratitude” project. We used movement and writing to explore delight.

Just Buffalo’s In Gratitude Project is a citywide practice of “serious noticing,” with boxes across the city inviting us to share a simple observations or deep, radical thanks. There is a box in the studio right now, we’d love to have you visit and participate ❤️

On Wednesday last week we hosted our first ever printmaking workshop using plates as the conclusion to the April Sketchbook Series.

We’re in the planning stage for the next series, so let us know if there’s a medium or process that you’re interested to build skills around and co-create with us!
