CEPA Gallery is Western New York’s only center for contemporary photo-related art. Located in Buffalo’s historic Theater District, CEPA has evolved from a small presenting venue into a full-service arts center with an international presence. It has extensive experience curating major professional exhibitions, commissioning new projects, & promoting the work of important, of

ten under-recognized artists. The Gallery supports, encourages, & funds the projects of both established & emergent visual artists & is committed to supporting diverse ideas & perspectives. CEPA’s growing, award-winning Education Program engages well over 1,000 children & adults each year with programs ranging from one to ten weeks in length.

Join us on June 12th from 5–8 PM for the opening reception of 𝘋𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘳𝘦 𝘗𝘢𝘵𝘩, a showcase by Focus Resident Faith Mikolajczyk.

Over the course of Faith’s residency, she has experimented with different alternative photographic printing processes, including Anthotypes, Cyanotypes, Lumen prints, and more. 𝘋𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘳𝘦 𝘗𝘢𝘵𝘩 is an accumulation of the results of these experiments.

This week, we have a very special Open Facilities Night! Focus Resident Faith Mikolajczyk will be teaching us how to make different Anthotype Emulsions. Each participant will leave with their own sample sheet.

What is an Anthotype?
Anthotypes are a cameraless process that uses a light-sensitive emulsion derived from natural elements such as plants, vegetables, or fruits.

What is Emulsion?
A light-sensitive coating that is applied to a surface.

In this workshop, we will be making the following natural emulsions:
-Spinach
-Red Cabbage
-Blueberry
-Tumeric
-Red Bell Pepper
