The Copley Society of Art (Co|So) is dedicated to cultivating a dynamic and inclusive artistic community by promoting visual artists of all backgrounds and championing diverse creative voices. The Copley Society of Art (Co|So), America's oldest non-profit art organization, is committed to the advancement, enjoyment, and promotion of its member artists and the visual arts. Co|So provides artists with a gallery for exhibiting and selling their work and a platform for engaging and educating the community.

"Untold Fairytale" also celebrates the release of Saxon's monograph, "The Book of Tales", an exquisite volume of visual folklore featuring 120 photographs from the project and including text inserts with original fairy tales written by the artist’s daughter, Alisa Sakson.

Co|So is excited to announce its next show in The Little Gallery titled "The Memory Quilt Project: What Remains", on view from October 23 - November 21. ⁠

Created by previous WBZ-TV news anchor and reporter, Kasey Kauffman, this collection of work is the culmination of her residency at the Historic Newton Cemetery & Arboretum. ⁠

Kauffman encourages all visitors to reflect on their own lives and ask themselves: What remains after memory begins to fade? What remains of the people we love? What fragments of our own lives endure, and how do ordinary objects, places, and rituals become vessels for remembrance?⁠

Janine Robertson is a Connecticut-based oil painter whose luminous landscapes are⁠ inspired by New England’s marshes, expansive skies, and shifting moods of the ocean.⁠ Painting primarily on aluminum, she uses its reflective surface to enhance light, texture,⁠ and atmosphere. Her work is represented by several galleries and has been acquired⁠ by both public and private collections, including the permanent collections of Yale New⁠ Haven.

Michelle C Mendez earned a BFA and later an MFA at Boston University's College of Fine Art. Early in her career, Mendez was active in Fort Point Artists Community and employed at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. For over twenty years, she was an art instructor and teacher of art, with a focus on Advanced Placement Art & Design.⁠ She earned a scholarship to the Caumsett Landscape Painting Program of Queens College, New York and she has also studied abroad in Italy, Scotland, and China.⁠

Now retired, she has focused on making landscapes and has had solo shows at Newburyport Firehouse Gallery, All Newton Library, and participated in many group exhibits around Boston.

Elizabeth Cohen creates wheel-thrown and altered functional and sculptural work in porcelain, as well as mixed media with natural materials such as wasp nest, mushroom spores and mulberry paper. Organic elements in nature, such as flowers, fruits, seeds, shells, and plants, inform her work. She explores cycles of birth, life and death, growth and decay, rhythm and change. She is also interested in themes of family, security and beauty. She holds a B.A. in English from Tufts University and a M.A. T. from Simmons College.⁠

Leah Novelli has been a painter for 10 years, and yet only recently has she began painting with watercolor. In just two years, watercolor has become her primary medium of choice. She started out as an oil painter early in high school, and this foundation in oil painting has given her a unique style and perspective when it comes to watercolor work. Novelli also enjoys working in a variety of mediums, such as printmaking, mural painting, and colored pencil.⁠⁠⁠

The events are Co|So Studio Day, where you can meet artists as they drop off their artwork; The Fresh Paint Party, the main event to unveil the artwork ⁠where the best dressed will win a prize; and the Masquerade Party, featuring custom mask-making, photobooth, refreshments, and live music from Justin Schaefers! ⁠
