American Impressionist painter Childe Hassam was born on this day in 1856! 🎉
Focusing on urban and coastal subject matter, Hassam helped bring Impressionism to an American audience. As a member of the Old Lyme Art Colony and the Impressionist Art Society, The Ten, he often found inspiration in New England.
This oil on canvas painted in 1905 depicts the Church at Old Lyme in Connecticut.
