Meet the board: Angel Roane, AVP of Marketing.

Angel runs marketing strategy for the whole org and leads an AMAzing team on the marketing committee (her words, and honestly, accurate). Ask her what she loves most about the role and she won't hesitate: "I love being able to build community on social media and in real life."

Her AMA Baltimore origin story starts 1,800 miles from Baltimore, at the 2024 Higher Education Symposium in Las Vegas. "I loved being around like-minded individuals who got it, so I wanted to translate that into my lifestyle once I got home." She got home, found the website, got involved, and never looked back.

Sometimes people need help to see that their stories shouldn’t end. Weber Shandwick and USAA did just that in 2023 with their “Face the Fight” campaign.

Since 2001, veteran su***de has claimed over 120,000 people. Something needed to be done, help needed to be given. While working with various experts, USAA aimed to create a campaign to raise awareness and break the stigma surrounding seeking help.

Since launching the campaign, they saw 175 partners donate over $85 million in philanthropic grants supporting:
• Nonprofit programs
• Clinical fellowships
• Veteran service organizations
• Su***de prevention/training programs for veterans

Winning the 2024 B2C Silver Campaign award makes sense because the story moved people to donate for their worthy cause.

Stories can emerge from our environment, and Constellation’s 2022 campaign took on an evergreen challenge. 🌳

Constellation is ready to combat the climate crisis and help businesses achieve their sustainability goals. Their B2B marketing campaign engaged potential customers with insightful, educational content, along with paid media and gated content to create a true integrated marketing strategy. This helped position Constellation as a true thought leader potential customers’ go-to resource throughout the long energy buying cycle.

🌎 Since launching the campaign, Constellation has seen an uplift in leads generated, providing full end-to-end marketing funnel coverage and demonstrating their engaging, educational approach to helping clients along their decarbonization journeys, wherever they were in the process. This won them the Best B2B Campaign of the Year 2023.

📣 Diane Devaney said it best that the MX Awards “are based on results, not merely subjective” and we couldn’t agree more.

Devaney & Associates, Inc. worked with Carroll Hospital in 2020 to honor their frontline workers who had risked their lives to care for their community.

The end result transformed a dull space in the lobby into interactive panels that allowed employees to post messages of gratitude for their fellow workers, and relieve their stress by coloring in the wall’s life-sized illustrations

Over the course of two weeks, hundreds of frontline workers added their creative contributions — resulting in a triumphant display of teamwork.

During a harrowing and dangerous period in our history, a story of perseverance and hope resonates deeply. That’s why this campaign won the 2021 Grand MX Campaign of the Year. 🎊

Big congratulations to Ellen Haynie, AMA Baltimore's newest AVP of Programming.

Ellen started as a volunteer on our Programming committee, jumping in wherever help was needed, registration, setup, cleanup, name badges at the end of the night. She learned the role by showing up consistently, kept our events posted online and posted early, and brought fresh ideas to our She-Suite event.

As her committee lead shared: "With Ellen's help, I've been able to do more, post our events sooner, and be more present at our events."

That kind of dedication doesn't go unnoticed, and now it's got a new title behind it. Congratulations, Ellen!

How does an 85-year old Baltimore-based institution evolve into the modern era? Through the power of rebranded storytelling!

In 2024, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service boldly reintroduced itself as Global Refuge — An organization that, as they put it, provides the “resources, guidance, and community to help forge a way forward for New Americans.”

The new launch featured a coordinated rollout with a surge of digital storytelling that drew striking results:
• Website traffic more than doubled year-over-year
• Baltimore user traffic grew 250%
• Video views increased 570%
• Private fundraising grew by 40%
• Giving Tuesday donations nearly doubled compared to 2023

People crave stories and the lived experiences that support them. This enormous increase in views, traffic, and fundraising proves the power of storytelling moves people to action. It’s no wonder this campaign received the Platinum Award for Rebrand last year!
