This watercolour Wednesday we are featuring this stunning view of Shepherd's Hill, Highgate. Having moved around London and the South East throughout his life, Heath Robinson spent his last years in Highgate and it features in many of his watercolours.

This painting is very unique among Heath Robinson's watercolours. It is highly detailed and makes use of pen outlines in areas to sharpen the small details.

Golf was a particular passion for Heath Robinson. Throughout his life he created a huge number of golf cartoons - enough to fill a whole book! ⛳️⛳️

His cartoons include wacky tips and tricks, goofy jokes and of course crazy gadgets to change the game. We absolutely love this idea of 'Pogo golf for 18-hole courses' - a perfect way to liven up a slow-moving game!

If you are interested in more Heath Robinson golf cartoons his full golf collection is available on our online shop (https://shop.heathrobinsonmuseum.org/) which continues to be up and running throughout lockdown.

This wolf feels like a lockdown mood πŸ€ͺ

This is another beautiful pen and ink illustration from the Folio Society 1913 publication of 17 Hans Chrisitan Andersen tales.
As you can probably guess, this illustration entitled 'Come up on the bed with me' accompanies the tale of Little Red Riding Hood.

Whether you are having a productive lockdown or are spending most of your time like the big bad wolf we hope you are safe and well!

Did you know that today is Museum Selfie Day?!

Although we can't welcome you into the museum right now, we wanted to share the original Heath Robinson selfie.

'Taking One's own Photo while Bathing' was originally published by Duckworth in 1973, but was drawn at least 30 years earlier. Could this be one of the earliest gadgets designed to take a selfie?? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Are you looking for beautiful, unique and hand-made gifts?

The Heath Robinson Museum Maker's Art range is an amazing way to support local artists and local business and find a one-of-a-kind gift.

Currently we are featuring a wonderful maiolica ceramics collection by West Hampstead based ceramicist Daphne Carnegy. Each piece is hand-painted and perfectly balances art with function.

Giancarlo Ciuffardi is a local wood worker and has provided us with some exquisite hand-turned pieces. We have a range of pots, bowls, plates and decorations in a variety of woods.

Finally, Self-taught jeweller Dil Pryce has created a collection for the museum. Her 'beachcomber' collection features a mixture of natural stones, beach glass, beads and metal wire for a beautiful yet quirky style.

These items are available in store only. You can find us in Pinner memorial Park Thursday-Saturday - feel free to stop in and browse the collection!

HI - I did this film version of my picture book with my wife Debra Leigh to entertain young readers during lockdown. The trilogy of 'Heath and Robin' books pay affectionate homage to the brilliant work of W Heath Robinson and his inventions - and are available to purchase through the museum shop. Enjoy!
