A piece attributed to Wassily Kandinsky, dating from his early period.
The composition is documented in the catalogue raisonné — Kandinsky: Werkverzeichnis der Aquarelle — where it is recorded in the form of an archival black-and-white photograph and described as *“known only from an old photograph.”*
The same publication also presents a closely related variant of the motif, suggesting a broader context of compositional development.
This forms the starting point of our current work.
