Galerie Peter Kilchmann is pleased to present Didier William's first solo exhibition in France and his second with the gallery. Entitled Lot Bò D'lo A— a Haitian Creole expression literally meaning « on the other side of the water » — the exhibition presents thirteen paintings realised this year. The ensemble is complemented by the emblematic installation Gesture to Home (2024), originally conceived for the Prospect.6 Triennial in New Orleans in 2024. The installation brings together pictorial and sculptural elements within a complex, immersive spatial environment.

William's oeuvre is distinguished by the mastery with which he combines different techniques and materials. His works are characterized by a rich formal vocabulary, frequently bringing together acrylic, ink and carving on wood panel. From the layering of these media emerge dense visual spaces, oscillating between figuration, memory and narrative openness.

On October 7, the solo exhibition by artist Melanie Smith, Only one thing was strange, to keep thinking like before, opens at the Institut Valencià d'Art Modern, Valencia.

This exhibition brings together the latest productions by Mexican-British artist Melanie Smith: Estudios para ajolote (2025) and Tixinda (2025).
Both projects revolve around two endangered animals: on the one hand, the Ambystoma mexicanum, also known as the Mexican Axolotl, an amphibian endemic to the Valley of Mexico, of which between 500 and 1,000 individuals remain in their natural habitat; and on the other, the Plicopurpura pansa, or purple snail, an animal that has historically dyed fabrics purple in different geographical areas and today only inhabits, in danger, the coasts of Oaxaca in Mexico.

Under the question of gaze and image, the artist searches in different media such as painting, drawing, video, and sculpture for ways to approach these forms of life without generating deterministic representations. These are journeys through different scales of vision and perspectives that allow the artist to play with representations in order to propose an approach that connects the audience with the animal’s own agency, from its corporeality, its plasticity, its color, in a phrase, from its way of existing.

With these works, Smith articulates a series of questions about the relationship between culture and nature, questioning the idea of separation and overcoming an ontological hierarchy of living beings, evoking a poetics that invites another way of looking, perhaps more empathetic, more curious, which seeks, within the limits of art itself, to learn from the other beings with whom we live. A learning process where the only strange thing is to think as before.

In the fall of 2026, MoMA PS1 and The Museum of Modern Art will present the first US large-scale exhibition of Teresa Margolles (Mexican, b. 1963), featuring several room-sized installations and a new commission. Trained as a forensic pathologist and a photographer, Margolles has created work that examines the implications of transnational violence, with particular attention to the US-Mexico border. Across mediums, her works trace disappearances, femicides, political displacements, and societal neglect through methodical research, site-responsive interventions, and a radical rethinking of the memorial. The exhibition’s centerpiece is La promesa (2012), a monumental barrier made from tons of rubble that the artist disassembled from a home abandoned by a family in Ciudad Juárez. Margolles’s artworks bring pressing systemic issues into public view, materializing the ways violence permeates everyday life with feelings of loss.

Co-organized by Ana Janevski, Curator, Department of Media and Performance, and Inés Katzenstein, Curator of Latin American Art and Director of the Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Research Institute, MoMA; with Chloë Courtney, Curatorial Assistant, and Julia Detchon, former Curatorial Associate, Department of Drawings and Prints, MoMA.

A concurrent major installation by Margolles is on view at MoMA beginning September 17, 2026, titled Aproximación al lugar de los hechos (Approaching the Scene).

In the exhibition Spaces Between, Zilla Leutenegger presents ten of her multimedia installations and several monotypes, offering glances of mysteriously inhabited architecture and faint outlines of a life. It is as if someone had moved into the building, leaving occasional traces and shadows of their existence. As well as telling short, poetic stories, these moments invite visitors to rediscover the museum—and to see it with different eyes.

In a beguiling symbiosis of analogue and digital media, her work centres on her unmistakable multimedia installations and the “video drawings” in which she layers mural drawings and video projections. In this way, a static space is suddenly brought to life by the projected shadow of a moving figure.

These ingenious spatial situations set the stage for the profound storytelling that plays a key role in her work. She often appears as her alter ego Zilla, a figure who—either filmed, drawn, or digitally constructed—quietly performs everyday actions: reading, waiting, or looking out of the window. Through these intimate moments, the artist weaves a subtle narrative to which viewers respond with memories of their own.

In this exhibition, her poetic works enter into an exciting dialogue with the Museum Tinguely collection. In this exchange, Leutenegger’s quite, large-scale projections meet with Tinguely’s mechanical dynamism, creating a story about movement, light and space that offers a fascinating new take on the poetry of the everyday.
