Luggage lost, history made! 🪡🧵

When Denmark’s club Boldklubben Femina arrived in Italy for the 1970 "Coppa del Mondo"—the first-ever international women’s world championship—their kit was nowhere to be found.

Undeterred, Anna Schøning and her teammates hand-sewed their numbers onto official AC Milan jerseys... and went on to win the entire tournament! 🏆🇩🇰

Anna recently visited the FIFA Museum with her family to see the historic items they donated from that unforgettable tournament.

The first FIFA Women's World Cup trophy lift 🏆👀

After the USA beat Norway in the final of the inaugural FIFA Women’s World Cup in 1991, captain April Heinrichs became the very first player to lift the iconic trophy into the sky - a historic moment that paved the way for generations of women’s football ⚽✨

Today, that legacy lives on at the FIFA Museum in Zurich! Her original gold winner's medal from 1991 and the shirt she wore in the final are preserved in the showcase dedicated to the tournament that changed the game forever 🥇👕

The FIFA World Cup™ Original Trophy and the FIFA Women's World Cup™ Original Trophy will NOT be on display at the FIFA Museum in Zurich on Wednesday, 14 October and Thursday, 15 October 2026 👀❌

In the men's showcase, the FIFA World Cup 2030™ Winner's Trophy will be on display instead.

Both original trophies will be back on Friday, 16 October 2026 🏆🤩

Toronto Stadium, Canada's first purpose-built professional football stadium 🤩🏟️

Before the FIFA World Cup 2026 this summer, Toronto had already seen its fair share of FIFA World Cup action. Built for the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2007, it also hosted matches of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2014 😲⚽️

Across the FIFA World Cup 2026, the stadium hosted six games, including Canada's opening ceremony and match against Bosnia and Herzegovina 🇨🇦🇧🇦

Kickstarting history! ⚽✨

On 16 November 1991, history was made in Guangzhou: in the opening match of the very first FIFA Women’s World Cup host nation China PR defeated Norway 4-0 🏆

The tournament looked a little different back then: 12 teams competed for the trophy and matches lasted 80 minutes. But the passion for women's football was already world-class as proven by a crowd of 63,000 people attending the final between Norway and USA 🏟️👀

These boots were made for fighting! ⚽️✨

Growing up, owning a good pair of boots was just a dream for a young Marta. By 2019, the Brazilian was one of the biggest stars at the FIFA Women's World Cup.

During the tournament, she used her platform for change and wore unbranded, customized boots featuring the "Go Equal" logo to champion gender equality in football.

Wearing those iconic boots, she scored against Australia, extended her Women's World Cup scoring record, and became the first player ever to score in five editions of the tournament 🇧🇷🔥

Future FIFA World Cup winners? 👀🏆

Youth teams from Paris Saint-Germain, Southampton FC, Sporting CP, SK Slavia Praha, FC Zbrojovka Brno and Red Bull Salzburg stopped by the FIFA Museum this weekend to explore football history, test their skills in the pinball and have some fun along the way 🌟

The young players were in town to compete in the international elite tournament organised by Footrebel ⚽️

Congratulations to the hosts! 🏆

Hong Kong, China made history by becoming the inaugural FIFA ASEAN Challenge Cup™ champions after beating Cambodia 2-0 at Kai Tak Stadium.

Two days later, Indonesia pulled off a similar feat, defeating Thailand to become the maiden FIFA ASEAN Cup champions!
