A second registration is now open for our Dragon Boat Festival cooking workshop on June 20.

Join Chinese-Singaporean chef Christopher Leow for a hands-on zongzi (粽子) making session β€” you'll prep both Teochew and Nyonya-style, learn the symbolism behind the ingredients, and wrap and tie your own from scratch. It's a great deal and a skill worth keeping.

July 1 is coming up, and the Chinese Canadian Museum is marking the occasion with a full day of crafts, film, and live music β€” celebrating Chinese Canadian legacies, stories, and culture! πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

Kick things off with drop-in crafts inspired by our new exhibition "Momentum: Power and Identity in Sports" β€” design your own felt banner or foam finger with classic Cantonese and Mandarin cheers like 加油! (Add Oil!) and ε₯½ζ³’! (Nice shot!).

Then settle in for two powerful films: "The Girl with Big Feet" and "Gim: The Life and Legacy of a Chinese Canadian," followed by a conversation with filmmakers Karin Lee and Daniel Chen.

Finally, cap the evening with an electrifying live performance by Sky Walker - Walker Choir Collective, celebrating the sounds of "Dream Factory: Cantopop Mandopop 1980s–2000".
There's something for everyone, and it's all included with admission.

Out and about in the neighbourhood πŸ—ΊοΈ As part of the Chinatown Ambassador Program, museum volunteers will be on the streets of Chinatown as the World Cup comes to Vancouver!

The team will be handing out maps and rack cards, answering wayfinding questions, and helping visitors discover nearby restaurants, cultural spaces, and community stories that make Chinatown so special.

We're partnering with Vancouver Chinatown BIA, Chinatown Storytelling Centre, Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden, and the Chinese Community Policing Centre to make sure every visitor gets the most out of their time here.

Game on! πŸ’βš½πŸ€ "Momentum: Power and Identity in Sports" is NOW OPEN at the Chinese Canadian Museum.

For over a century, Chinese Canadians have competed, excelled, and inspired on Canada's rinks, fields, courts, and more. Their stories and impact belong in the national conversation.

From decades-old memorabilia and striking athlete portraits to immersive contemporary artwork, a newly commissioned video montage, and an interactive ping pong installation β€” this exhibition will be on view from June 10, 2026 to September 5, 2027.

On June 9, we had our VIP opening event with more than 100 guests at the museum, getting the first glimpse at the new exhibition. Thanks to Patrick Chan, Brian Chiu, and Walter Wu for attending, and to Lori Fung for visiting earlier in the day!

This exhibition is made possible by the Government of Canada, Government of British Columbia, the David and Dorothy Lam Foundation, Jack and Sylvia Gin Foundation, and Chan Family Foundation.

Take a look behind-the-scenes at the installation of "Momentum: Power and Identity in Sports" β€” our newest exhibition opening on June 10.

From memorabilia to athlete stories, from immersive artwork to a video montage, every detail has been carefully curated to bring over a century of Chinese Canadian sports stories into view.

Since opening our doors in July 2023, the Chinese Canadian Museum has continued to grow alongside the communities we serve.

Over the past three years, we’ve expanded the spaces and stories we share β€” opening additional galleries, enhancing exhibitions, and introducing new public areas. Today, substantially more of the museum is open and available to visitors, offering a deeper and more engaging experience of Chinese Canadian history and culture.

As part of this continued growth, we will be introducing an update to our admission pricing beginning June 10, 2026.

This modest adjustment, our first since opening, reflects our growth and helps support the care of our building, the development of exhibitions and programs, and the ongoing work of sharing these important stories. Accessibility programs remain in place, and annual passes (including the BMO Campus Culture Pass) continue to offer great value.
