Choose from 3 tour options - Express, Standard or Extended. Season ends October 31. Kingston Pen Tours offers a unique opportunity to explore Canada's oldest maximum-security prison. Closed in 2013 and designated as a National Historic Site, it is an amazing historical building, predating Canada's confederation in 1867. Tours include the Standard, Extended and Express. 🔑 Yesterday marked 13 years since Kingston Penitentiary closed its doors.

On September 30, 2013, Kingston Penitentiary officially ceased operations, marking the end of a significant chapter in the site’s long history.

Today, the former institution has a new purpose, welcoming visitors through its gates to learn about the people, stories and history connected to this National Historic Site.

🏛️ One of the most photographed features of Kingston Pen Tours, this beautiful staircase continues to capture the attention of visitors with its striking architecture and historic character.

📸 Guests on our Extended Tour will have the opportunity to climb the staircase and explore some of the upper rooms as part of their experience.

👀 Joining us on a Standard Tour? You'll still be able to admire this impressive space from below as you visit lower rooms.

Please note: due to the stairs, a portion of the Extended Tour is not accessible. Our Express and Standard Tours are fully accessible and offer a fantastic opportunity to explore the history of Kingston Penitentiary.

No matter which tour you choose, there are countless opportunities to discover the unique history and architecture of this iconic site.
