The "Friends of the Penitentiary Museum" are dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of the fascinating history of Canada's Penitentiary System. Others have a passionate interest in Canada's history. It would seem we are not alone in thinking exposure to correctional history is key to understanding any society. Currently more than 26,000 people per year visit our award-winning museum. To

continue to promote public interest in the history of Corrections Canada and conduct historical and genealogical research, the FPM seeks volunteers and donations.

We're hiring! Canada's Penitentiary Museum is looking for Museum Attendants for our 2025 summer season, May to August. Located in the old Warden’s residence of Kingston Penitentiary, the Museum chronicles the history of the federal correctional system in Canada, with several floors devoted to different aspects of that long history, from escapes to contraband to inmate art. Our Museum Attendants operate the gift shop, engage with visitors, and maintains exhibits in cooperation with the curator and volunteers.

Le Musée du pénitencier du Canada, situé dans l’ancienne résidence des directeurs du pénitencier de Kingston, est à la recherche de candidats intéressés pour la saison mai au août. Le Musée relate l’histoire du système correctionnel fédéral au Canada, avec plusieurs étages consacrés à différents aspects de cette longue histoire, des évasions à la contrebande en passant par l’art des détenus. Les candidats retenus seront responsables pour la boutique de cadeaux, de l’accueil et de l’assistance aux visiteurs et de l’entretien des expositions en collaboration avec le conservateur et les bénévoles.
