A big thank you to everyone who joined us for our Military Trivia Night last night! We were happy to see both new and familiar faces, and we hope you had a great time testing your knowledge, enjoying some friendly competition, and connecting with fellow history enthusiasts.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to those who generously made cash donations in support of Valour Canada's educational programs.

Enjoy these photos from a fantastic evening, and we look forward to seeing you at the next event.

Historic photographs can show us faces, uniforms, and places — but they cannot fully convey the hardship, fear, and resilience experienced by the young Canadians who served far from home during the Second World War.

Featured here are Soldiers of the Loyal Edmonton Regiment digging out Lance-Corporal Roy Boyd, who was buried alive for 3 ½ days in the ruins of a fallen building in Ortona. 30 December 1943.

In November 2026, Valour Canada will return to the battlefields of Italy for a 14-day remembrance tour (Nov. 1–14), exploring the places where Canadians fought and sacrificed during the Italian Campaign. Pride Month is a time to celebrate love, identity, and the resilience of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. It’s a moment to honour the trailblazers who fought, and continue to fight, for equality, inclusion, and human rights.

Black and white photographs like this capture only a moment — but behind each image were young Canadians enduring exhaustion, danger, and uncertainty far from home.

Shown here are Privates of the 48th Highlanders of Canada digging in during a break between German attacks at San Leonardo di Ortona, 10 December 1943, during one of the fiercest phases of the Italian Campaign in the Second World War.

This November, join our 2026 Italian Battlefield Remembrance Tour (Nov 1–14) to the very landscapes where Canadians fought, served, and sacrificed in Italy.
