As a museum, it is incredible to watch how a small group of knitters in Minnesota took inspiration from a Norweigian resistance symbol in WWII to create awareness and raise funds for their cause. Minnesota has a large population of people with Scandinavian heritage.

The viral melt ice hat, based on the hat worn by the Norweigians, is very similar to the red hat worn with men's Danish folk costumes. The museum has several examples within our collection. See comments for photos from our collection.
