Wolston Farmhouse, Brisbane’s oldest surviving residential farmhouse, is a nineteenth-century rural gem located a short drive southwest of the Brisbane C*D. The historic landmark, previously known as Wolston House, is situated in a rural setting dating back to 1852. It was the first property to be taken care of by the National Trust of Australia (Queensland). The beauty is evident in the oldest surviving residential farmhouse in the district, capturing the ambience of a traditional rural homestead and surrounded by stunning views which stretch down to the tree-lined riverbanks. The Heritage-listed homestead has spacious verandas overlooking the lush green property and gardens. It has six rooms; each room displays a nineteenth-century rural lifestyle with artefacts such as sausage stuffers in the kitchen, silverware in the dining room, a pianola in the parlour and horsehair mattresses in the bedrooms. The larder, a meat room, and the Maid’s quarters with a scullery are all in the cellars – the air is cooler down there, and noises can be heard along with the temperature change; there might be some paranormal activity! Wolston Farmhouse is closed to the public but opens Monday through Friday as The Centre of Excellence for School Excursion Programs, a learning playground for future generations. Weekends at Wolston Farmhouse can be reserved for private venue hire for unique events and weddings or special events hosted by Wolston Farmhouse.

Who is Arthur Frame AM? 🎭

Arthur enjoyed a fifty-year career across Australian radio, television and theatre — including roles with the ABC, Channel Nine (yes, that's him as Humphrey B. Bear!) and London's Royal Court Theatre.

Appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2008, Arthur has also spent more than a decade on National Trust boards at local, state and federal level, championing the preservation of Australia's built, cultural and natural heritage.

At Unlocking the Archives, you won't just view history from behind glass, you'll help handle it.
Guests will be introduced to six significant items from the Trust's heritage collection, guided by Heritage Officer Meg McKavanagh, and given archival gloves to carefully handle pieces not normally on public display.

It's a conservation experience as much as a history one, a rare, respectful look at how Queensland's stories are preserved for the future.

On 15 September, National Trust Queensland's new Trust Library and Research Centre at historic Wolston Farmhouse opens for a rare, intimate Trust Talks experience.

First session sold out - session two still has tickets available from
1pm–2pm, with a curated look at six significant collection items, hands-on (gloved!) access to rare archival objects, and afternoon tea at the farmhouse.

What a Home Front Festival it was!

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to Wolston Farmhouse on 16 August for the inaugural Home Front Festival - stepping back into 1940s wartime Queensland for a day of history, community and connection.

To our incredible suppliers and exhibitors - thank you for bringing the era to life with such care and dedication. And to every visitor who explored the site, asked questions, and shared in the spirit of the day - thank you.

Today's the day! 🎖️ Home Front Festival is on NOW at Wolston Farmhouse, 10am–4pm.

Come dressed in your 1940s best (or just come as you are!) for a full day of swing dancing with Chrissy & Ray Keepence, live music from Amberley Brass under the old fig tree, rations cooking and Dig for Victory garden demos, a 1940s Fashion Show with Miss Evelyn Carter at 3:30pm, and food from BBQ Roadshow Low'n'Slow Catering and Bare x Bones Coffee — or bring your own picnic.
