From Brisbane to Bristol — and back again with a suitcase full of ideas!
We're so excited to share that our very own Meg McKavanagh, Heritage Officer and Manager of Wolston Farmhouse, is heading to the UK to volunteer at The Dig For Victory Show — one of England's most beloved 1940s living history events.
Meg is on a mission: to see firsthand how the magic of Home Front living history is brought to life, so she can bring that same spirit home to Queensland.
Because on Sunday 16 August 2026, Wolston Farmhouse will be hosting our very own 🎖️ Home Front Festival — a family-friendly celebration of 1940s home front life, commemorating Victory in the Pacific Day right here in Wacol, Queensland.
And we need YOUR help to make it happen! 📣

Please can we have a huge Dig For Victory welcome for Meg, who is travelling all the way from Oz to volunteer this year!!
Meg works as a Heritage Officer for National Trust Australia and is Queensland based in sunny Brisbane. She will be visiting the Dig For Victory Show to learn how to make the 1940s Home Front and Australia's significant WWII history more engaging and enjoyable for Queensland communities.
Please say G'Day to Meg if you see her at the show!!
