Our selection of pieces changes every 8 weeks. Our aim is to establish a Community Art Gallery in the Western Suburbs of Brisbane.

Located in Indooroopilly, our gallery features a diverse range of unique pieces from local artists in various media, including paintings, sculptures, and photography. This facility would be available to all established and emerging artists in the widest possible range of artistic endeavour without discrimination. It would be available for exhibitions of any type of art thought to be appropriate by the managing committee. Educational and Workshop facilities would be available. Functions relevant to the artistic aims and aspirations of the community would be held. We would be seeking support and funding from the community, from established organisations and local and State Government. Art West as a community gallery provides an important social connection in the community where art not only unifies but provides a creative outlet for for many. Untamed Chorus — Lyn Fairlie

Step into the wild beauty of the Australian bush!

Untamed Chorus by Lyn Fairlie is a vibrant celebration of native flora, bursting with intricate details, rich textures and an incredible mix of colours. From the distinctive bottlebrush blooms and delicate banksia forms to the striking foliage and fiery orange-red accents, this artwork captures the untamed energy and diversity of our natural environment.

There’s so much to discover in this piece! Layers of deep greens and teal create a lush backdrop, while pops of coral, gold and crimson bring the native flowers to life. Country Road — Hiranya Ranawake

Sometimes, the best journeys are the ones that invite us to slow down and simply take in the view.

Country Road by Hiranya Ranawake captures a peaceful moment as a lone rider travels through an open countryside landscape. With their horse heading towards the distant horizon, the scene evokes a sense of freedom, quiet adventure and connection with nature.

What makes this painting particularly eye-catching is its beautiful explosion of colour! Turquoise greens, sunny yellows, vivid oranges and soft pinks sweep across the landscape, creating a contemporary, expressive interpretation of the countryside. Loose brushstrokes and layered textures give the scene wonderful movement, while the rider and horse provide a striking focal point against the colourful surroundings.

Partners of the Current — Lorraine Hodgson

A story of tradition, companionship and life on the water.

Partners of the Current by Lorraine Hodgson transports us to a world where a fisherman navigates the waters on a traditional bamboo raft, accompanied by two striking black-and-white birds perched on his shoulders. The warm, glowing sky contrasts beautifully with the deep blues and greens of the water, creating a moody, atmospheric scene that draws you right into the painting.

Painted in oil, this work is rich in character and detail. From the weathered clothing and textured bamboo to the ripples across the water, every element helps tell a story. The fisherman’s calm expression and the birds’ watchful presence invite us to imagine their journey and the quiet partnership they share.

The Intruder — Muza Ulasowski

Who invited the unexpected guest? 👀

The Intruder is a beautifully detailed wildlife painting capturing a cheeky moment between three kookaburras and a brilliantly coloured rainbow lorikeet. Perched together on a sturdy branch, the kookaburras seem to be keeping a close eye on their colourful visitor.

Muza Ulasowski brings these Australian birds to life with incredible attention to detail, from the intricate feather patterns and expressive eyes to the rich textures of the branch. Artist Feature: Andrea Moser

Meet Andrea Moser, a Bellbowrie-based artist whose beautiful abstract paintings explore both the quiet beauty and the powerful energy of the natural world.

Working on canvas, Andrea combines acrylics with layers of pencil and oil pastels to create richly textured artworks full of depth, movement and atmosphere. Her mixed-media approach allows her to build up colour and detail while capturing something that goes beyond the appearance of a landscape.

Inspired by the incredible landscapes of Australia, Andrea sees painting as a way to slow down, connect with a place and capture the feeling of a moment rather than simply reproduce what the eye sees. Her work invites us to pause, take a breath and appreciate the world around us.

✨ “I hope my art encourages you to pause and find a moment of peace, too.”

Through her paintings, Andrea hopes to share a sense of calm, joy and appreciation for nature’s power — offering viewers their own journey of discovery through colour, texture and form.

We love celebrating the talented artists who make ArtWest Community Gallery such a special place. 💚
