Art West Community Gallery

Our selection of pieces changes every 8 weeks. Our aim is to establish a Community Art Gallery in the Western Suburbs of Brisbane.

Located in Indooroopilly, our gallery features a diverse range of unique pieces from local artists in various media, including paintings, sculptures, and photography. This facility would be available to all established and emerging artists in the widest possible range of artistic endeavour without discrimination. It would be available for exhibitions of any type of art thought to be appropriate by

the managing committee. Educational and Workshop facilities would be available. Functions relevant to the artistic aims and aspirations of the community would be held. We would be seeking support and funding from the community, from established organisations and local and State Government. Art West as a community gallery provides an important social connection in the community where art not only unifies but provides a creative outlet for for many. A huge thank you to everyone who braved the rain to join us for the Opening Night of our current exhibition, Artists of Our Region. 🌧️🎨

It was such a wonderful evening celebrating the incredible talent within our local creative community and seeing the gallery buzzing with conversation, connection and support for our artists.

A special thank you to Cr Greg Adermann for attending and for his kind words about the exhibition and our western suburbs arts community. We truly appreciate the ongoing support.

🌸 Delightfully Aussie — Suezan Cunningham

You certainly won't miss this one on the gallery wall.

Time to Chill — Debbie McKay

Sometimes an artwork doesn't need a complicated story — it just makes you want to be there.

Time to Chill captures a quiet moment in the garden, with a weathered Adirondack chair tucked amongst soft grasses and wildflowers, a sunhat resting on the seat as if its owner has just stepped away for a moment. The loose, painterly brushwork creates a relaxed, dreamy atmosphere that invites you to slow down and take a breath.

👏 A Huge Thank You to Our Installation Team

When visitors walk into an ArtWest exhibition, they see beautifully displayed artwork and a gallery full of colour, creativity and talent.

What they don't always see is the incredible team of volunteers who spend hours behind the scenes making it happen.

Every exhibition brings together artworks from dozens of artists, with pieces arriving in all shapes, sizes and styles. Turning that into a professional, cohesive exhibition takes experience, patience, teamwork and a lot of hard work.

🏆 Installers Choice Award Winner

Congratulations to Paul V Ross for taking out the Installers Choice Award with his stunning oil painting, Creative Chaos: Margaret Olley’s Home Studio.

Filled with colour, detail and character, this remarkable work captures the wonderfully cluttered and creative atmosphere of one of Australia's most celebrated artists. Every corner reveals something new, drawing the viewer into a space overflowing with inspiration, objects, flowers and artistic energy.

The Installers Choice Award is selected by the team who hang and install the exhibition — people who spend hours up close with every artwork on display. Their choice reflects not only the quality of the work but also the impact it makes in the gallery space.

Interior Atmospheres – Between Systems — Philip Pascoe

Big colour, bold texture, and absolutely no chance of blending quietly into the background.

Philip Pascoe’s Interior Atmospheres – Between Systems is an energetic abstract work layered with sweeping marks, thick textures, and unexpected colour combinations that somehow just work. Bright blues crash across soft lilacs, sharp blacks cut through the middle, and flashes of yellow and magenta pull your eye around the canvas.

The more you look at it, the more details start appearing — scraped surfaces, layered paint, rough edges, and softer blended areas all working together to create movement and tension.

There’s always one dog who can get away with absolutely anything just by giving you that look.

Boston Bun captures all the charm and cheekiness of a Boston Terrier, with those big eyes and tilted head doing most of the heavy lifting. Christine Boulsover’s pastel work is soft and beautifully detailed, giving the portrait a warm, lifelike feel without losing its playful personality.

Bright, loud, and full of personality — just like the real thing.

Marie Kennedy’s Lorikeet Banquet is bursting with colour, featuring a vibrant rainbow lorikeet perched amongst rich pink berries against a bold blue sky. The strong contrasts and saturated colours give the piece loads of energy, while the close-up composition really lets the bird take centre stage.

🌹 Rose in Full Bloom — Yvonne Fraser

Soft, elegant, and beautifully detailed, Rose in Full Bloom captures that perfect moment just after rain, with water droplets still resting on the petals and leaves. Yvonne Fraser’s careful oil technique gives the rose a lovely depth and realism, while the darker background helps the gentle pink tones really stand out.
