Opening to the public on reopening, this vibrant exhibition will run until 𝟭𝟯 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 and is set to be a highlight of the year. Curated by 𝘀𝗶𝘅-𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗩𝗼𝗴𝘂𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝟭𝟵𝟳𝟱–𝟭𝟵𝟴𝟬), 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗹 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘀, it promises a fascinating journey through social dance history that you won’t want to miss.

Take a close look at these two historic maps of Broadmeadows and Glenroy, one from 1952 and one later from 1966, and you’ll notice something fascinating…
👀 Some streets are familiar…
🤔 Others have completely disappeared…
🔄 And many have quietly changed names over time.
From early layouts around 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗲 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱 and 𝗪𝗶𝗱𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁, to evolving neighbourhoods near 𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗮 and 𝗚𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗿𝗼𝘆, these maps capture a suburb in transition.

On Thursday evening, Meryl Thomas and Mark Moore had the pleasure of attending the Hume National Volunteer Week Recognition Ceremony—a fantastic night celebrating the incredible contributions of volunteers across our community.
We were delighted to share the evening with members of the Craigieburn Greek Community, adding to the warm and welcoming atmosphere. True to form, Meryl was busy enthusiastically promoting the Museum to anyone who would listen, while Mark took on the equally important role of ensuring the catering didn’t go to waste!
It was also wonderful to catch up with Cr Karen Sherry - Hume City Council and Steve Gagen for Hume , a great opportunity to thank them for their ongoing support. Mark also enjoyed catching up with other councillors, including Mayor Ally Watson - Hume City Council and Mayor Carly Moore, both also valued supporters of the Broadmeadows Historical Society and Museum.
A great night all round—celebrating community, connection, and a touch of Museum advocacy along the way.

THE REPORTED DEATH OF 65E: AN OBITUARY

Les Beard, a motoring journalist with Australian Motoring News, wrote this in 1972 on Ford Special Vehicles’ plan to return the 1971 Bathurst-winning Falcon to competition in 1972 — a program that ended with the car’s destruction at Adelaide, and, in his words, ensured it would never race again;

“Several weeks ago, Australian Motoring News was first to report official confirmation that Ford would contest Bathurst and the full Manufacturers’ Championship campaign with last season’s Phase III GT-HO Falcons.

We revealed that the factory Competitions Department had been dusting off a special machine — the Falcon that carried lead works driver Allan Moffat to victory in the 1971 500-miler — in an effort to secure Ford a second consecutive win.

Seeking to salvage something from the “Supercar” debacle that had killed the Phase 4 project, Ford had been pinning its hopes on a hat-trick — with Moffat winning in the same car — an unprecedented achievement that would have driven major advertising and promotional campaigns.

It can now be revealed that Ford’s marketing and advertising staff will never have the opportunity to build media campaigns around the vehicle, as it will never race again.”
