Working in unglazed porcelain, Adéle Sherlock captures the textures of the natural world through pressed plants, leaves and organic forms.

Her sculptures explore how delicate elements; repeated, intertwined and gathered, create structures that are both fragile and enduring.

Adéle’s work is currently on view at IS Art Gallery at Blaauwklippen, as well as in our “Fragile Flora” exhibition at Terrarium Restaurant, V&A Waterfront.

Inspired by the resilience of fynbos and wildlife after the recent fires, Linda Castle’s “After the Fire” series honours the cycle of destruction and renewal found in nature.

“Out of the vast swathes of blackened and ravaged earth came new life, both fauna and flora.”

Hand-dyed linen, painted layers, sunlight exposures, plant silhouettes and hand embroidery come together to suggest what was lost — and what is yet to come.

These works hold both the memory of flames and the promise of rebirth.

Now on exhibition at the IS Art Gallery.
