Kitty Tail finds beauty in a moment of transition.
Like the other works in Layla Skramstad’s series, the painting began with flowers given to her by someone she once loved. Rather than preserving the bouquet at its most vibrant, she waited for the flowers to begin to fade, using that transition to reflect on what remains after a relationship has ended.
“I hope my work encourages people to find beauty not only in moments of celebration, but also in endings, transitions, and the traces they leave behind.” — Layla Skramstad
