Gallery 16

Gallery 16 Gallery 16 and Urban Digital Color Gallery 16 was started in 1993 by artist Griff Williams.

The project, now celebrating it’s twenty-second year, is both contemporary exhibition program and fine art press. This collaborative business model marked a decidedly new concept in arts funding and a pioneering marriage of business, technology and art. Over the past two decades the gallery has helped support the work of artists including Margaret Kilgallen, Stephen Hendee, Rex Ray, Xylor Jane, Mark Grotjahn, Arturo Herrera, Jim Isermann, Michelle Grabner and Gedi Sibony.

Everyone seems to be talking about the state of the Bay Area art scene, so we've asked some veterans of the art community to talk about what is working and what we can do better. Renny Pritikin, René de Guzman and Griff Williams.

We are using Renny Pritikin's infamous Prescription For A Healthy Art Scene as a guide for a conversation about what is needed to make this a healthier arts community. Every guest will receive a risograph print of 'prescription' printed by matt katsaros. drinks and music will be served.

Gallery 16 is proud to present Returning to This Moment, Libby Black’s third exhibition with the gallery. April 9 - May 21, 2022
Opening Reception : Saturday April 9th, 4 - 7pm

Returning to This Moment encompasses work from different phases of Black’s over two decade career. Drawing, painting, and sculptures are made from paper, hot glue, and acrylic paint, playing with the line between two and three dimensions. The exhibition is a chance to look at and return to moments from the vantage of the present– to observe, reflect, and marinate. She decodes and combines to create work that represents the things she thinks about, to see herself in the world.
